The Senior Jiifinmfel Show lXfIr. Interlocutor Landesman-Good evening, everybody. I hope you liked that sprightly show our Seniors gave. How did you feel about it, NIL MacTootsie? lXIacTootsie Altschul-Oh, sho'. I done thot the hoppin'-up way it began wit dat song We Starts the Shown was jis elegant! 'Wahwee Lewis of Bunk B-VVell, Ah kinda think the dancin, by Edna Isaacs even better, and maybe you all don't think that Betty Ross and Izzy Horowitz done the grandest cake-walk to Clap Yo' Hands? Interlocutor-Well, let,s not quarrel about it. It was a good show. Nlolasses Block-You know, Ah kinda liked the song to Abie, You're My Relaxa- tion, and mos' of all Ah loves our own song Oh, There Are just Three of Us and That Makes Us Sore. QAll laugh at the recollection of the gentle digs at camper and councillor contained in the song, and the blushes thereofj Interlocutor-None of you even mentioned the jokes, and I thought they were pretty good. lVIacTootsie-Hm, we all thinks so much of we all, we oughta sing 'LSatislied. Interlocutor-No, let's do part of the finale! All-We ends the show. We brought you joking and music and dancing And singing and prancing and talent, you know VVe ends the show. 51' foe Councillors' Show The old order changeth-giving place to a show written, directed, produced, and acted by the councillors. VVill wonders never cease? A Midsummer Night- mare, or VVe Are 23 Skidoo, an opus in three epics, starred Topsy Barasch an- nouncing Scene ll, A Grand Yarn or The VVool Over Your Eyes, Scene 2, 'LI-Iey, Nanny, Nanny, or Stringing the Poils Alonggl' and Scene 3, Keep the Campfires Burning, or Smolka Gets in Your Eyes. Contrary to most expectations the coun- cillors did very well by themselves-and us-in hilarious take-offs of the knitting fad, the Gag QHagj meetings Qwho can ever forget Mr. Mollie lVIabel Chankin selecting the new I-Iaggers?j, and the campfire, down to the finale, 4'We Close This Camp and the show. 56

Willy, this is strange. There is our own famous professor Eleanor Linder, author of 'Obey That l'mpulse,' leaving for the Moon. Who is that charming Claire de la Lune he's talking to? She looks amazingly like our own Claire Kulok of the Earth. Alia! They have very earthy problems, too, it seems. There's the image of Betty Mann telling Claire, 'Nly Darling Daughter, You Really Oughter' marry the rich Professor. Look! There are the milkmen of the Milky YVay. 'It's Great to Be a Nlilkman' evidently, for Claire seems to be in L' love with one, and are we 'lunyl too, or isn't he Edna Kadin? 'WVhy, they grow Petunias on the lVloon, too, the professor- hunting variety, it seems, for this most Florence Robbins- looking Petunia, is certainly making the professor run rings around the Moon. W'ell, we guess you never knew that lVIoon- beams were so pretty, or sang and danced so well, did you, or that stars gossiped so busily? Ah, there he is himself, The Man in the Moon, Claire's father Cdoesn't he remind you of Sonya Benjamin?j arriving at the crucial moment, just as Claire is about to marry the Professor . . . The de la Lunes are 'in the money' now, real Moonlight Nlillionaires, and as for the happy double-wedding, all's well that ends well on the Nloon, too! 'Red Riding Hood AN ANIMATED CARTOON Wlalt Dizzy has certainly outdone himself in this newest of his animated color cartoons, 4'Little Red Riding Hood. YVe understand that the dainty little White-robed fairies who opened the story were posed for by Selene, Gloria, Claire, Dorothy, and Betty. Little Red Riding Hood herself seemed to walk right out of the story-book. By the way, we understand that Rochelle lVIeisel was NValt's in- spiration for this character. The lrVoodcutters' Chorus which followed was a beautiful bit of synchronization and color photo- graphy. The voice of the Big Bad VVolf did sound like Annette Kaufman's, but that Wolf seemed much too real to be just a little camper. As for the music-the Wfoodcutters' Chorus, the Fairies' Song, the Wolf's Song-well, we are still humming theml Yes, Red Riding Hood is undoubtedly the latest and best of VValt Dizzy's cartoons. We mustn't forget to mention the stage show, Dreams For Sale, which ac- companied the cartoon. The Freshie Symphony was there, too, with a bang!-and the Freshie actors were thoroughly charming. After you see this grand musical number you,ll want to buy all your dreams from Bunks 9 and lO. l 5 5
