Yearbook a 61 Q I Dare Y ouv The following article was written in 1942 for an alumni publication by Chaplain Marshall Brenneman, then camp director. To Nawakwans everywhere sounds the clarion call of triumphant and adventurous living. Be strong! We are not here to play, to dream, to drift, we. have hard work to do and loads to lift, shun not the struggle, face it 5 'tis God's gift. Be strong! It is difficult to put a challenge on paper. I would much rather look you straight in the eye as we talk together and say, I dare you! Paul writing to Titus dares him to live victoriously in this present world fTitus 21125, and in that same spirit I dare you! ' I dare you to livehsoberlyg i.e., to learn to live with yourself, recognizing your life as God's giftto His service in times like these. The hymn, God Send Us Men, is answered by those! who will learn to live with themselves. Evangeline Booth once said, It doesn't .take much of a man to be a Christian, but .it takes all there is of him. Self-control., self-sacrifice, and selilessness are a vital part of learning to live with ourselves. r ' . I dare you to live righteouslyg i.e., to learn to live with others, putting into practice Christian fellowship and brotherhood with all mankind. Cooperation, recognition of the good in others, enterprising for the truth and right are a vital part of this righteous living. I dare you to live godly, i.e., to learn to live with God, not for a moment in high inspiration or a day of the week, but always. God, the .Creator and Preserver of all things and Father of all mankind, demands worship, willingness to do His will, and work. - I dare you to learn the art of living that is adventurous, a living of an out-and-out, honest Christian life that shares with others' the fruit of the dar1ng.
