CLASS PROPHECY Dear D1ary Aslrelax here 1n my cosy l1ttle palace 1n Ind1a, mternauonally known as the Taj Mahal, soak1ng my travel weary feet, I take t1me to rem1n1sce about the places I went, and the people I saw on my recent Jaunt around the world Twenty years ago, when I, Mary Ella Westbrook graduated from Camp Leieune H1gh School, l1ttle d1d I 1mag1ne that one day Iwouldbe the grand pr1ze w1nner of a World W1de Crulse and my own l1ttle home by cor rectly 1dent1fy1ng the Camp Lejeune H1gh School Glee Club s rend1t1on of The Marme Corps Hymn on Tune That Name Now I feel that I must record for poster1ty the a maz1ngth1ngs that I found out about my fellow 1960 CLHS graduates as I traveled Ibegan my Journey by v1s1t1ng my old h1gh school alma mater, where I was pleasantly surpr1sed to see the fam1lar face of Dottle typewr1ter as she prepared the day's absentee 11st She has used the experlence ga1ned as off1ceass1stant durlng her Sen1or year to be come top notch secretary to the pr1nc1pal Glanc1ng through the Honor Soc1ety's Alumnae Reg1ste r, as I chatted, I d1scovered that Gladys Burton IS STILL l1v1ng at Camp Ge1ger but the government had to prov1de her w1th a lar ger traxler m order to accomodate her smx ch1ldren Hurrymg along Lejeune Boulevard to the bus statxon, Inotxced a slgn on the Bowlarena Charles Holland, Manager It seems as though Chuck h1res asp1r1ng CLHS bowl1ng champlons as p1n boys I accompamed the Class of '80 to New York C1ty on the1r Sen1or Class Tr1p There rlght 1n the m1ddle of a busy 1ntersect1on, a sl1ghtly grey1ng, curly ha1red pollceman stopped rush hour trafflc so that we could cross the street I could hardly bel1eve my eyes!
