CLASS HISTORY In September 1956 awkward and shy FRESH MEN began the annual fall semester at CLHS But alas, even 1f we, Larry, F1tz, Ga11, Dottle Allen, Ray, and Becky, were the greenest worms on earth we were at the begmnmg of four wonderful years We suffered through Freshmen 1n1t1at1on 11ke scared rabblts, but proved we were good sports to the rest of the student body Strugglmg w1th the r1gors of Algebra I physlcal educatlon, and general SCIENCE, we were 1ntroduced to the fascmatmg How To Study Outlme Addmg Carole, Mary, Bob, the two Johns, Walter Kaye Pete the two Chucks, Chrls, and D1ane to our ranks as SOPHOMORES, we had our flrst smell of blology some began leaf reports and dlssectlon wh1le others Just stood by 1n horror We were grateful to the upperclassmen for a1d w1th needed reports and tr1fle problems and 1n apprec1at1on, our class spon soredthe Chrlstmas Dance lSanta's Work Shopj and a Bunny Hop Earnest studymg enabled s1x of the class to be tapped 1nto the Honor Soclety As JUNIORS we proudly claxmed a f1rst as the Jumor Semor was successfully recelved at Marston Pav1l1on The hard work and d1scuss1ons we put 1nto our Southern Planatlon was well worth lt and can we forget those fun fxlled work mghts and frequent palnt sessxons 'P Sk1p, the two Jlms, Sandy Chee Chee Rachelle Don and Patjomedus 1n task of selling refreshments at the home football and basketball games The sorrowful lament Have p1ty on a poor Jumor was heard on all sldes The Honor Society chose twelve more of our class for membership, but many of us learned the hard way that we were not born to be chemlsts, havmg survived shattered beakers, mex plxcable exploslons, and frequent H2Of1ghts Sm1tty, Vxcky Dolores, Peggy, Gladys, Joe Carolyn, Sharon, and Ilene enrolled at CLHS to en large our class 1n the last year of h1gh school as SENIORS Semor pr1v1leges and property were al most worn out and we were caught 1n the whlrl of act1v1t1es that accompames the last year H1gh11ghtS that w111 occupy our memory are the Sen1or tr1p to New York College Boards, the Sen1or Play, our last Quanuco games ID football and basketball, the maga z1ne drlve, P T A bake sales, the varlety show, OUR ed1t1on of the Devllpup, and the semester and f1nal exams plus all the tr1als and tribulatlons that went w1th them Equxpped w1th these memories, knowledge and skllls acqu1red1n our four years gone so swlftly, we, the Semor Class of 1960, prepare ourselves for the future and all lt conta1ns Mary Westbrook Class I-l1stor1an 5 9 ' v - v - 5 , . vv ' ' vw 1 , . . . . ,, . . 7 ! - u - . 1 7 x ' - - vv vs ' ' , . v . . . - uv - ' - 1 rv ' vv ' ' IV ' ' VY 29
