' I SWATARA CAME The Llons opened their 49 football season on September 24 on their home field by defeating the Swatara Eagles by the score of 26 to 14 Sm atara opened the scoring when Freeland grabbed Schlebs pass and raced to pawdlrt The point was good and the Eagles led by 7 to 0 but the Llons came roaring right back and cllmaxlng a long sustained drive Nulor bucked over from the ttso yard lme Korbs conversion was good so the score was tled at 77 but the Eagles s ull tame on as Schleb passed for .mother touchdown to make the score 14 to 7 at halt tlme The second half was all Camp H111 wlth the Llons storing nineteen points while holding Swatara to nothing To start things off Nallor bucked over from the one yard lme 'md then Brice went across from the three yard llne for tvselse points Both of Korbs conversions were missed Nallor then ended the days scoring by drlvlng through the Eagles lme and golng svcty five vard to paydlrt for his thlrd touchdown of the day At the final gun the score stood at 26 to 14 JUNIATA GAME The first quarter was all Camp H111 After kicking off the Llons recovered a fumble on the next play and the Bulota men were off with Nallor plunging over for the TD Korbs kick was good and the Blue and White led by 7 to 0 Not to be denied the Llons scored agaln with Nallor carrying the ball across to make the score 13 to 0 ln the second qu nrter both teams scored once with Funck scoring the Llons TD to make the half tlme score 20 to 7 Coming back ln the second half the up river boys took charge Coach Larry Beckers boys scored twlce in the thlrd period, and once 1n the fourth to garner twenty points and take the lead by the score of 27 to 20 but the Llons were not done Filling the alr wlth passes they moved down field and finally Korb threw to Funck for the TD to make the score 27 to 26 but the tying point was missed so Camp H111 went home on :XL the short end of the score LOWER PAXTON GAME week the Llons journeyed to Island Park to play Lower Paxton in the first night game of the season and blanked the rangers by a 14 to 0 score Receiving the opening kickoff the Paxton boys started off like a house afire but were finally stopped deep ln Cam H111 territory The remainder of the first quarter was spent with both teams playing around mid field but in the second quarter the Llons really began to roll, and after a long sus tamed drive Don Nallor went around end for paydlrt and six points Korbs pass to Becker for the extra point was good so the Llons led 7 to 0 After takmg the second half kickoff the pepped up Llons went on after many penalties to score with Nallor going over from the slx yard llne Going to the air the Rangers fought back desperately but the Bulota men were not to be denied and battled them down to come out on top SUSQUEHANNA CAME The whole first half the Blue and White with the Indians near pavdlrt many times played with their backs to the wall but managed to leave the field at half tlme with the score deadlocked at 0 to 0 Early ln the t lrd quarter Roscoe Warners boys stalled to go After a long drive Cumpher swept off tackle for the score and with the point missed the score stood at 6 to 0 Also ln the fourth quarter Gumpher scored agaln to make the score 12 to 0 but here the Llons started to move Nallor took the kickoff and raced fifty five yards to the twenty yard lme Korb then tossed a pass to Brice for ten yards then another to Funck for the score The point was good so the score was 12 to 7 Susquehanna couldnt be stopped for Gumpher then tossed a pass which netted sixty yards to the Llons five yard llne and from there Heckman bucked over for slx points and the final score of the evenlng MILLERSBURG GAME After taklng the opening kickoff the Llons wasted no tlme Six plays netted forty five yards and Nallor bucked over from the seven yard llne for the score The pomt was missed so the Blue and White led 6 to 0 The Indians fumbled the following kickoff and the Lions recovered deep IH Mlllersburg territory Three plays later Nallor went fifteen yards for his second TD The score at the end of the first quarter stood 12 to 0 with Camp Hill in front The second quarter was scoreless The Llons kicked off at the start of the second half and Mtllersburg fumbled agam the Lions recovered and were off again After .1 forty yard drive Nailor butked over for his third score of the day, to make the score 18 to 0 Receiving the kickoff Mnllersburg finally began to move with Mill going thirty yards for the score to make the st ore 18 to 6 but the fighting Llons weren't to be stopped Two passes got twenty four yards then Korb faded .md hit Funck with a pass for the final score The point was good so the score stood at 25 to 6 f62 . 4 . , ig 7 I 7 I 1 l . . ., . , , f , 4 ' ' 2 ' 5 V . , . , v- K ' .
