. tswswm 3 f ,Vi f ,, E 5 We slid past the entrance to the bay, the green clad cliffs of Vietnam's coast now close about us, and came to anchor not far from a tiny hamlet. For most of us, this was our first contact with the people of rural Vietnam. Initial shyness was rapidly overcome by the Supply Officer's store of candy bars and the hospital corpsrnan's interesting hand aids and lotions. Some of us helped the resident liaison unit dig trenches and all of us found a new face for a country that had previously existed as a line of hills on the horizon.
