They kept our main engihes and generators running, were always ready with emergency power when it was neeclecl, and were never reluctant to add a Few liberty turns to push us through the water just a little quicker. Also, responsible For the ship's evap- orators, the 'men of M Division kept the ship's fresh water tankslfilledl by actually converting 876,000 gallons of salt water to fresh water during the cruise. These are the men who brought us to WestPac, kept us steaming on patrol, and took us to the Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Yokosukap these are the men who brought us home.
