Cameron College ' s newspaper, The Cameron Collegian, is published once a month. In 1962 the Collegian was awarded as the best all-around newspaper of junior colleges in Oklahoma. Other awards the newspaper took at the Fall Conference, sponsored by the School of Journal¬ ism and Communications at Oklahoma State University were first in feature stories, first in editorials, second in news stories and third in sports stories. Journalistic media consists of an introduction to newspaper writing, the technique of news story writing and the kinds of news and their resources. With 9 hours being taught in jour¬ nalism, advance courses present a continuation of news writing with a study of the mechanics of newspaper production and practice in gathering and writing all kinds of news. Another aspect of journalism includes the campus yearbook, The Wichita, which is edited and assembled by journalism students. Also radio and television script is prepared and given by journalism and speech students. Student Communications and Pictured here is a scene from the Greek tragedy, Antigone, one of many dramatic, musical, and comedy productions presented annually by the drama department. Cameron Players, the dramatics club, is active in community and Fort Sill productions as well. Debate, public speaking and forensics in general are supported by inter¬ collegiate competition at various state speech tournaments. Outstanding debaters at Oklahoma University, Oklahoma State University, Southwestern State College and Central State College have gained their first experience at Cameron College. Students take command of their own affairs at Cameron College. Under a democratic studen t personnel policy, officers of the various campus clubs from the Phi Theta Kappa to the World Tape Pals plus six independent senators meet, discuss and legislate the rules for campus ac¬ tivities. Student government training is essential to the complete American citizen and leaders at Cameron often continue to exert that same leadership in other institutions.

From the Junior Rose Bowl in Pasadena to the cold winter snows on the gridiron of Pratt, Kansas, the Aggiettes, a charm-packed group of coeds follow the football and basketball teams to take part in half-time festivities and to cheer the Aggies to victory. These be-skirted, cowboy-costumed coeds spend long hours of practice to accomplish the close-order drills and marches seen for brief moments. Their color and pageantry lend an authentic touch of college which is an integral part of the lore of Cameron. and Superior Club Activities Phi Theta Kappa, one of Cameron ' s major organizations, is constantly busy with var¬ ious public relations events. Every month of the year trips are made to high schools throughout the Southwestern part of the state to provide entertainment and give the senior class of each school a chance to meet some of the students of Cameron Col¬ lege and find out the advantages of attend¬ ing Cameron. Gary Wilson, president of Phi Theta Kappa at Cameron in 1961-62, was also the na¬ tional president of the organization. High¬ lighting the year ' s activities is the annual trip made to the National Phi Theta Kappa convention. A

Cameron ' s new Clarence L. Davis Memorial Student Union offers rest, relaxation and refreshment to college students. The union contains a bookstore, snack bar, ball¬ room, a color television in the student lounge, snooker and pool tables and machine games. The $300,000 union was completed and opened to students in March of 1962. Social Life Sets the Pattern Highlighting Cameron ' s social calendar is the annual Military Ball which provides a varied entertainment. In past years entertainment has included Fats Beaty ' s noted band, floor shows, featuring students from Oklahoma State University, pantomimists and ventriloquists. Throngs of students gather at the innumerable social events which are sponsored by Cameron ' s many clubs. Fun nights, weekly dances and watching of colored television programs are only a few social events taking place in the modern student union. 13
