Aggies have always been champions on the gridiron. The 1962 edition claimed the mythical championship and proved it by defeating Bakersfield, California, in the Junior Bowl. Competitive sports are an important adjunct to a physical edu¬ cation program where President J. F. Kennedy ' s goal of physically fit Americans is met by a rigorous program of weightlifting, drill, basketball, softball, badminton, and various other sports. Physical education is required for all students who cannot claim a medically supported reason for not participating. - In basketball, the Cameron Aggies have always managed to remain close to the throneroom in the All States Jaycee Tourna¬ ment and the National Junior College Tournament. Many Juco All-Americans have worn the Black and Gold colors. Mute evi¬ dence of the effectiveness of the training and coaching athletes at Cameron College is a roll-call of great stars who con¬ tinue to show greatness in four-year institutions. Byron Beavers of Houston, Joe Don Looney of O. U., Jim Sellers of O. S. U., and Big Jim Barnes at Texas Western are just a few of the recent Aggies who are spreading the fame of Cameron far.
