Aggie coach LeRoy Montgomery meets Bill Bogart Rose Bow Director. Aggies Win Rose Bowl Cameron Aggies, a courageous band of Oklahoma iunior college football players, smashed The huge Renegades of Bakersfield College 28-20 before 49,000 fans in the Rose Bowl. The Aggies victory was the first Junior Rose Bowl triumph for an Oklahoma team. On The first play from scrimmage, Bob Kelly Took a pitchout from Bill Harper on The 31-yard line and passed a 38-yard strike to end Jack Mars on The Rene- gade 32. Two plays later Harper, who received The game's outstanding player award, raced Through most of The Bakersfield squad for The six-pointer. Stuart Tomemah kicked The extra point to give the Aggies a 7-O lead. After the ensuing kick-off, Ron O'Rear intercepted a stray pass and Cameron scored a half a dozen plays later on a Harper to Ulysses Kendall pass. Less than three minutes later, Bakersfield blocked Joe Don Looney's quick kick and scored for the first time. With less than a minute left to play in the first half, Dick Jones ran 52 yards to set up Cameron's next touchdown. The first half ended with the tie score of 14-14. In the third quarter a poor punt by Bakersfield set up Cameron's next score. All-America Bob Kelly capped a 14-play, 41-yard drive with a one-yard plunge to pay dirt. Bakersfield took the kickoff and started up field but a iarring tackle by tackle James Poole shook the ball loose and Poole recovered the pigskin. The top juco giants traded touchdowns as Looney powered for a marker and the Rene- gades marched 62 yards to tally. Bakersfield tried an onsides kick but it went out of bounds, and from then on it was iust a matter of time, and Bakersfield had too little time. The clock ran out with the final score 28-20. ,.A,,,AAm 31 AW 2iffQfT:f: :'A7:1f'1 Wnw ,,,L, -, ,A,,A,MA4M M M 0- M 5EiL?ii Afij5?f' W1 l WW-W sl ' hl.l,'f:'. el , , mi ,411- ' A ' - .
