Till TIELBP LETTER CLUB The letter club IS one of the most outstandxng clubs Only those who meet the semester requlrements stated ln the charter may be actlve members Mem belshlp IS governed by the previous semester s work Students may letter ln speech debate baseball basketball muslc tracl dramatlcs and regular scholastlc work Grantmg of the purple C IS the hlghest honor that can be bestowed on any student Thls club helps to promote better school splrlt greater coopera txon ralse the standards of school work and recognxze the students who do out stand1ng work PEP CLUB In order to carry on the spxrxt of the fightxng Tlgers a pep squad IS essen tlal The orgarnzatlon has at 1tS head a member or the faculty Mlss Hayes Thls group makes a n1ce dlsplay w1th the1r whlte blouse and blue skxrts The pep squad members sel cted from the 8th 9th and 10th grades were chosen by tne faculty and the Student Councll The Pep Squad deserves much pralse for 1ts splendld work th1s year The group made the trlps w1th the teams and It was because of thls nevcr quxt sp1r1t of the club that our Tlgers often kept lightlng The pep squad was a b1g lactor 1n all tournaments at home and away Hazel Davls and Ardxth Lea Sldwell were cheer Leaders HOME ECONOMIC CLUB Any g1rl who 15 a member of the Home Economlcs class lS ellglble for actlve membershxp The success of the Department depends upon the actlve mem bers of the club Th1s club prepares lunches whlch they sell to puplls who wlsh to eat at school Mlss Hays sponsors thls club The mam purpose of the department IS to wlden and deepen the mterests of the students ln the art of home bulldlng and to motlvate the regular work ot he school ln Home Economxcs Department LIBRARY CLUB Th1s club IS composed of those who work 1n the Llbrary they are Homer Head Lxbrarxan The books of the Llbrary are arranged accordlng to the Dewey Declmal classlfica lon Thls system dlV1deS the books into ten mam classes each dxal mg wlth a general toplc these general toplcs are then dlvlded 1nto sub toplcs Some of the members of the club have worked very hard ln numb rlng and preparlng the books for use A card catalogue and lndex of all books and other materlal 1n the llbrary has been prepared to ald the studen s 1n findlng the lnformatlon he wants All books except those placed on reserve are 1SSU9d for ten days Reserve books are lssued for one perlod only Books may be claecked out for overnight use If a student falls to return a book when It IS due he IS penallz ed by bexng cnarged a fine A record of all thls 15 kept by the l1brar1ans MUSIC CLUB The Muslc Club has grown from 20 members to over 200 1n three years The muslc club IS composed of members from the band orches ra glee clubs har mony chorus ensembles and drum and Bugle Corps The Students ln our school can now major ln muslc The purpose of th1s club IS to help find talent develop It and encouraoe muslc apprecxatlon Mr Jeffers IS sponsor COMMERCIAL CLUB The commerclal club lS composed of all members who are regularly enrolled ln the commerclal courses Our school offers work 1n typlng shorthand Busl ness Engllsh, Bookkeeplng and Buslness law The followlng puplls dld outstandlng work 1n Commerce Ward Anderson Mary Lee Emry Clovlne Sldwell Hazel Long Maudxne Hopkms V1rg1n1a Roach Fern Patterson Mlss Longley lS sponsor , ' ' 1 . - , . . , ' 7 7 - . TIIH TIQBF DRAMATIC CLUB The orgamzatlon of the Dramatlc Club IS composed of pupils from the or gamzed classes and the extra currlcular group To be a member a student must be a member of an organized class or group Actlve members are those who have won some honor wh1ch the faculty feels IS outstandmg enough to be stow thxs h1gh honor on them The students automatlcally becomes a member when he rates superlor or better 1n a contest To be a member of thxs organl zatlon a student must be dolng average Work The objectlves of the Club are help to dlscover and develop talent help teach the student to express hlmselt enunclate more v1v1dly and clearly add words to the vocabulary and g1VC confldence and polse tram students 1n team work g1ve a better understandlng of other l1ves by act1ng them 1nsp1re Wxse use of lelsure tlme and cultxvate dramatlc taste Th1s year the dlrector of Speech Act1v1t1es took the debate squad to the de baters assembly at Columbla where the squad partlclpated ln tlcelr membershxp of the State Debatlng League by drafung bllls ln leglslatlve 1nd parhamentary mannner presentmg amendments to prevlous b1lls for conslderatlon engag mg ln a two round State Debate Practxce Tournament In th1s tournament the squad met some of the best teams of the state xncludlng Webb C1ty who had won the State Champxonshlp 1n the 1938 39 season Th1s year the debate squad engaged 1n four tournament VIZ Columbla Fr1 co League Bollvar and the dlstrlct at Rolla The team met and won de c1s1ons over teams from Joplm Lebanon Commerce Okla Newburg and Com petltlon The squad went to the thlfd round of the d1str1ct The team or actlve debators was composed of Afflrmatlve Herschel Bledsoe Bob Frantz Verna Roe Frantz Negatlve Maudlne Hopkms Irene Coll1ns V1rg1n1a Roach The Purple C Club 1S the hlghest ranklng club 1n school It IS composed of all students who lettered ln athletlcs dramatlcs muslc and scholastlc work To be a member of the letter club a s udent must not make a grads below C ln any subject He must quallfy ln at least two act1v1t1es and be a high rank mg student 1n att1tudes Work l1ab1ts and scholarshlp The student must have clean hablts and recelve the entlre vote of the Faculty A Student who falls to attend regularly and falls to cooperate 1n the fullest cannot be a member The fO11OW1Hg boys quahfied for a C 1n basketball James Crane Roscoe Laurle Melvln Stoner Cl1nton Ruble Wallace Roofener B111 Newton LeRoy Rog ers Wayne Huddleston Jack Morgan Homer Knapp Walter Hensen Vlrgle Casey Don Laurie Arthur Coll1ns and Clyde Moreland HOME ROOMS A thlrty mlnute home room perlod was mcluded 1n the dally schedule thls year These were organlzed accordmg to classes The Freshman Home Room under the supervlslon of M1ss Clalborn was very lnteretslng and valuable Many 1nterest1ng programs were g1ven At the close of each home room perxod outstandlng problems were dlscussed Mr Grace was supervlsor of the Sophomore Home Room The rules and tradltlons of Camdenton Hlgh School were dlscussed and an attempt was made to acqualnt the students wlth the many phases of school life Th1s group put on some excellent programs The Junlors under the supervlslon of Mr Hale and Mxss Longley used thelr home room perlods for programs d1scuss1on on rules tradltlons school requlre ment and good conduct Programs were gxven whlch tended to brlng out hxdden talents The Semors took thls perlod for checkmg on the many requlrements of the Seniors for transactlng the large amount of busmess comlng before the class work 1n guldance good manner, and developlng talent Mr Randolph supervlsed the Sen1or Home Room The Home Room Perlod was part of our regular work and became very popular ln our school We substituted the home room clubs for the old L1te1 ary Clubs . - -. . . . . ., . .
