Tllii TIQBI' first place m thrs tournament by defeating Plato 42 to 17 Iberra 47 to 18 Drxon 17 to 10 and Competrtxon 35 to 22 The Tigers were 1nv1ted to the Sprmgfield tournament of champions which was held January 18 19 and 20th The local lads have played rn thrs touma ment four consecutive years and each year they have won a trophy The Tlgers met the strong Carthage team in the first round and thrs game proved to be a real thriller but our team won 21 to 23 Falrvlew defeated Granby and earned the rrght to play the Tlgers ln the quarter round Tne Tlg ers mowed them down to the tune of 28 to 26 A fast driving team from South west Mo had advanced to the seml finals rn the lower bracket Th1s team was the famous Branson quintet Branson played splendld ball but the de fense of the Lake of the Ozarks quintet was too much for Branson and agaln we won and were rn the finals w1th Rogersvllle Last year we defeated Rogers vllle rn the finals and we had great hopes of domg rt again but two extra per rods were necessary before the brg giants from Rogersvllle won A long shot from center by Baker won the game for Rogersvllle The fourth tournament was at Lebanon The Tigers defeated Rolla 41 to 19 Elkland 34 to 20 Nrangua 37 to 13 but agam those boys from Rogersvrlle handed us our 2nd defeat of the year The Tlgers played well rn each game except the final game and poor playing was the cause of the defeat The team Just couldn t get started The final tournament was at Cahfornia Mo Th1s was the regional The team barged through to the finals but was defeated m the final game by the mrghty Glasgow team Our boys defeated Fayette 43 to 26 Versallles 49 to 32 Tuscumbla 52 to 34 and Glasgow sent us to the showers Wlth a stinging de feat for the rlght to play ln the State Tournament at Cape Glrardeau The Trgers led Glasgow 11 to 1 1n the first quarter but lost out at the begmnmg of the 2nd half after 3 of our regulars had been removed by the foul route Three personal fouls were called on Stoner Crane and Ruble before the game was half over The final score was 40 to 44 Incrdentally Glasgow won 3rd place ln the State Tourney Our boys played ln five tourney and went to the finals ln all of them C H S agaln von the conference season The Tlgers set a record ln the FFISCO League bv being undefeated ln the League We won 11 consecutne games FIRST TEAM Roscoe Laurie Melvm Stoner Jam s Crane Clmton Ruble Donald Laurle and Vxrgle Casey SECOND TEAM Arthur Collins Joe Roe Clyde Moreland Harley Whlte glarvirx Long Tommy Edwards Glenn Blalr Wllllam Jones Denzll Varner Bob axra Frisco League Schedule They Richland Competltlon Conway Lmn Creek Lebanon Nlangua Phxllrpsburg Competltron Lebanon Nlangua Non Conference Games They St James Brumley Stover Brumley Sprmgfield Grove Springs Sprxngfxeld Grove Sprmgs Stover The Trger Cubs won the Frlsco League for the 6th consecutive year Our teams have really made hrstory for Camdenton Our teams Wm ITIOFB games rn a shorter practxce perlod than any other school ln the State We have a balanced act1v1tv program and not emphaslze basketball above others Practically all schools use from 2 to 3 hours practically all schools practlce dallv but we seldom get 40 mmutes The wmnmq spmf IS gust another example of what our shool rs domg we are proud to have a group of boys in there frghtmg and making a great name for C H S Bill Newton LeRoy Rogers, Jack Morgan, Wayne Huddleston, Homer Knapp, We ' 48 18 ' ' 35 22 10 7 ' 2 0 E 31 18 ' 41 19 ' ' ' 51 14 ' ' ' 56 18 A 33 16 ' 22 10 .
