Dedication: Mr. E. L. Gruener E. L. Gruener has a unique approach to leaching. His daily lesson plan wails for us to caich up 10 it. His stu- dents are allowed to exhaust topics without feeling that the discussion will be cut off at its height ... or even its depths. To many of us he has been a true friend in many ways. Perhaps he has been understanding when we have explained what really happened to that book report or take-home test, or perhaps he has spent a little extra time helping us. as well as himself, to see the light through our own opinions and questions. He is sensitive toward his students and their opinions. Some of us will remember the question What is the purpose of life? and the understanding we gained of our own lives and the untimely ends of others' lives. We thank him. E. L. Gruener (even though we don't know what the L stands for) is as unforgettable as the amazing sea crea- ture he told us about. And we traveled with his tales of being stranded on the windy peak of a roof, on a bell buoy, or at the top of a seemingly endless mountain watching one ski slither down the snow-covered slope. For future students we offer this suggestion: don't try to note every word he may say: you are destined to miss something. Just listen and he'll tell you about life. As we finish our high school career at C-R. we want to show our gratitude to him and to wish him a continued happy and successful life. Therefore, we, the class of 1978, dedicate the 1978 NAVIGATOR to our favorite advocate of ' 60 Minutes.'’ Mr. E. L. Gruener.

Admiral Michael Drons moved the NAVIGA- TOR operations out of the bomb shelter into the cultured confines of the library this year - thanks to Mrs. Joan Heimann who came on board as co-advisor. Despite the better light, less dampness, and a gentle female touch - the work of turning out what you hold in your hands required many long hours by a dedicated staff. Mary Simonton assumed command master- fully and had the able assistance of her deck officers - Paige Parker, Pam Guiseley, John Ferraiolo, and Erin Flanagan. Jan Sorenson led the ad department and Barri Jones controlled subscriptions. And many others filled the ranks. We laughed, panicked, cropped and tried to capture a year on paper. We hope you'll find it seaworthy.
