CM A cadets necessarily feel responsibility to each other for their own actions. Through ex- perience, growth, maturity, and character development, cadets: assume increased authority and responsibility naturally. The training program includes drill, ceremony, leadership preparation, and classes in military science and tactics, integral to the overall intellectual, physical, and moral development of each cadet. Military customs and courtesies are strictly observed and the dis- tinctive cadet uniform is worn at all times. Designated an Ml Junior ROTC school, Camden Military Academy is rated an Honor Unit with Distinction by the Department of the Army. The corps of cadets is formed into one in- fantry battalion, commanded by a cadet lieute- nant colonel; A, B, and C Companies, each commanded by a cadet captain; and a band company, also commanded by a cadet captain. Companies are comprised of two platoons, each of which is commanded by a cadet second lieute- nant. Competition between companies in drill, in barracks maintenance, and in discipline is keen. Overall winner in this year-long competi- tion is designated Honor Company. 40 BATTALION STAFF Battalion Staff: Sitting (L to R): Reynolds, Osteen, Jones, Amerson. The team coached by Captain Tom Huff, had only two returning lettermen this year, JJ Gardner and Price Osteen. The Spartans started out a little slow, but improved as the season progressed, ending with a 2 — 5 record. But even with that mark, the team was well-satisfied to have won the Palmetto Athletic Conference Championship, a first for any football team at CMA. Coach Huff was proud of his team and appreciative of the people who stood behind him. O. Box 3088 785-6414 Hilton Head Island SC 29928 111 fs it over or has it just begun? That is a question which faces the Class of 1981. As you walk out of her gates for the last time, CM A will look upon the hard work and determination you have expended to make her what she is. Nothing can be done and done well without patience and much hard work. The same holds true for production of the 1981 Excaiibur. Many people have given their time and their effort to create this hook for you, and thanks must go to those who stuck with it. But we would like to thank you, the stu- dents of Camden Military Academy, and the Class of 1981 in particular, for your cooperation and for your support. We sincerely hope that we, the Excalibur Staff, have captured the things you wanted recorded in your yearbook. Later, Price Osteen Editor-in-Chief
