CAMDEN MILITARY ACADEMY EXCALIBUR 1966 THE CADET PRAYER Heavenly Father, We beseech Thee to behold with Thy favor this, our Academy, that, through the care and instruction of the young men committed to it, Thy Name may be glori- fied. Be Thou guide to those whom rests its government, enlighten with wisdom those who teach; and grant that we who learn may be blessed in our studies, and our character so molded that we may evermore standfast in Thy truth and abide in Thy love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. —Amen. Written by The Right Reverend Albert S. Thomas, S.T.D., Retired Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina. 2 FORWARD Throughout this edition of the nineteen-hundred sixty-six Excalibur, the staff has endeavored to portray life at Camden Military Academy. The training cadre not only trains the new boys to drill, but also gives advice con- cerning military courtesy. The cadre is al- ways glad to help the new cadets in any- way possible. 15 — NON-COMS Excluding the Commissioned Officers, the remaining responsibility of training new cadets is distributed among the mem- bers of the Non-Commissioned Officers. These men are blended throughout the cadet corps to set examples of discipline and to rectify any transgression of the rules and regulations established by the school. Chosen on character and depend- ability, they represent the backbone of the battalion. 16 SASH AND SWORD Honor, loyality, and tradition outline the basis of the Sash and Sword. Membership in the club is limited to the Commissioned Officers who attain the qualities needed to train the battalion. On the judgment and ability of these men depends the success of the corp of cadets. These men have been selected on the basis of their leader- ship abilities and merit. 17 CADET LT. COL.
