PRESIDENT Col. James F. Risher Col. Risher was bom in Hampton County» S. C., on November 26, 1889. He attended the public schools of South Carolina, The Citadel, and the Atlanta School of Law where he gradu- ated in 1910. Col. Risher taught in South Caro- lina schools from 1911 to 1922. In 1922, he took a teaching job at Carlisle Military School. He continued to teach at Carlisle until 1928, at which time he became Headmaster of Carlisle. In 1958, Col. Risher bought Camden Military Academy. In two short years he has turned it into a top rate school. We of the Excalibur staff and of the cadet corps are truly proud to have known such a diligent and hardworking man. HEADMASTER Maj. Canning P. Risher Maj. Risher was born on September 19, 1931, the son of our President, Col. Risher. His birth- place was in Bamberg, S. C. He attended the public schools of Bamberg, Carlisle Military School, and The Citadel, where he graduated in 1952. Upon graduation, Maj. Risher took a job with the duPont Company. In 1953, he entered the army as a 2nd Lieutenant. In 1955, he came out of the Army with the rank of 1st Lieutenant of the Infantry. Upon completion of his active duty Maj. Risher started teaching at Carlisle. He remained there for three years. He then came to Camden to take the job of Headmaster. For the past two years Maj. Risher has put forth much effort to make Camden Military Academy a top grade school for everyone to be proud of. It is the opinion of the cadet corps that he has done this and much more. We of the Excalibur staff salute you, Maj. Risher, for a job well done. 6

Colonel Thomas L. Alexander DEDICATION We, the seniors of I960, in passing, humbly leave this dedication to Col. “Alec” as a small token of our appreciation to the humor and guidance that not only brightened each day, but made our last year unforgettable. We feel privileged and honored to have been associated with a man so under- standing and devoted to helping youth find a place in life. 5
