Risher DEDICATION As a new son to its father, Camden Military Academy dedicates its annual to its president. Col James F. Risher. In thinking of his influence on our lives, we are reminded of the words of a great writer: “The teacher who walks in the shadow of the temple, among his followers, gives not of his wisdom but rather of his faith and his lovingness. “If he is indeed wise he does not bid you enter the house of his wis- dom, but rather leads you to the threshold of your own mind.” 4 CAPT. It also provides an outlet for general in- formation about the academy and the faculty. Little realized is the effort which these boys put into their work, but their satisfaction comes when the paper is out, and they see the many smiles which show apprecia- tion for our school’s newspaper. We hope that you will enjoy having it, as much as we have enjoyed bringing it to you. There has been much work involved and many problems to be worked out, but we feel that this book is a true reflection of cadet life. We wish to express our deepest appreciation to Lt. McLean, whose unceasing toil has made this annual possible. RICHARD SCOTT Editor-in-Chief EXCALIBUR STAFF Seated, Left to Right: M1TCHEM. POPE, TODD. HAMILTON. deMONTMOLLlN, SMITH, K. F., SMITH, W. They have maintained a well run and efficient reference and spare time reading department. They have spent much of their own time in the library, so that it could be readily available to those wishing to use it. JAMES SEEBER President LIBRARY CLUB Left to Right: MILLS, WILSON, J. P., SEEBER, SONICH, PYLANT 40 This committee plans all our dances, and Has worked tirelessly toward making each one a success. Much praise is due these boys for the time and effort put into making the decorations and providing the music. The informal dances are enjoyed by everyone, and the Christmas formal left lasting memories for all. The club has also given the officers an opportunity to have a closer unity of purpose. These are the select men of the corps, setting an example for everyone, and occupying the most highly honored and respected positions in the academy. COMMISSIONED OFFICERS CLUB First Row: STOKES. CLUB This club has as its members probably the most hard-working and depended-upon boys in the school. They have made a start this year that will leave all who follow a very good example. These are the cadets who will be the commissiond officers of the future, and they merit many compliments for their sometimes thankless tasks. 43 Due to the academy’s idea! location, adjacent to Camden’s municipal airport, the flight club has been able to provide excellent opportunities this year for its members to observe the construction and flying of aircraft. These boys receive the training necessary for a pilot’s license, while enjoying the many training flights and the thrill of their first solo. CALL HEmlock 2-4331 1025 BROAD STREET 5 I THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOMEONE TAKING YOUR MEASURE Some measures are taken with a tape but the more important measures of life are taken by the people who size us up, whether it be a sweetheart, a classmate, a son or daughter, or a prospective employer. There is always some keen eye, whether we know it or not, scrutinizing the dimensions not only of our physiques but of our minds, abilities, and characters. Your training at Camden has been designed to improve the dimensions of both your mind and character so that when you graduate it can be said that here stands a Cadet foursquare to the world, ready and eager to shoulder the responsibilities which his particular talents and abilities qualify him to assume. We measure Cadets for uniforms. Our customers measure us in their appraisal of our ability to execute a uniform contract satis- factorily. It will be a never-ending effort on our part to keep our measurements good in the eyes of Camden Military Academy. We salute the Graduating Class and wish you all Godspeed in your chosen field of endeavor. Irving L. Wilson Company No 1 Highland Ave. Bala-Cynwyd, Pa.
