Reiss, Chairperson In an age where scientific knowledge doubles every five years, the need for a solid foun- dation in science is obvious. The purpose of the Science Depart- ment is, consequently, two-fold: to provide a broad-base in clas- sical scientific theories for the non-scientistg and, to provide laboratory experiences and open-ended inquiry for those who wish to pursue scientific or medical fields in college.
