The task of educating our youth in this modern age is more demanding than it has ever been. The school and home must share this responsibility. It is our concem that each student will not be found lacking in courage, enthusiasm, and ability to face the intricate problems that lie ahead. One facet of this concern is accomplished by the prepara- tion of this yearbook which provides an opportunity for the graduating class to record experiences of the past that all may review with interest in the future. Since that which is recorded will become more important and interesting as time passes, much time and effort was necessary in separat- ing trivia from events which future readers will find inform- ative and interesting. In the production of this yearbook the members of the class have leamed the value of working together, cooperating with others to get a job done, making intelligent decisions in selecting materials to be recorded, and efficiently assem- bling the materials. My best wishes for a successful, worthy, and happy future go to each member of the class of 1963. fi f ' ' . ' i f 1 1 - 7 - ', Ai -. , -W , if , 4 ' - Egg, .,.,. 6 .. my 3? , 4 'f 13 g ' Him! ERBAUGH and MR. IACKS Coming to the omega of our high school days, we naturally look back at the numerous activities which we have sponsored and participated in with our fellow classmates and friends. The Tender Trap and The Men of the Fighting Lady were the two shows that we sponsored our Freshman year. During our Sophomore year, we sponsored the post-basketball dances. We also re- ceived our class sweaters and jackets which are dark oxford gray with red trimming. The highlights of our Junior year were the class rings and the presentation of our play, Don't Take My Penny. The theme of our prom was Stardust and was held at the Palms in Lafayette on May 11, 1962 , with music furnished by Frank Calebo. Scaling the Senior year was the record-breaking sale of magazines which totaled 53, 842. 25. Our senior class play was Headin' for the Hills presented on October 13 and 14. The money we profited from the magazine sales and yearbook advertising will be used for our trip to Washington and New York in the latter part of May. During the last part of the year the band is busy preparing for the district music contest with hopes of going to the state contest. The band will make its last public appearance at Commencement time. The high school chorus takes part in the Baccalaureate Service. The fifth and sixth grade chorus participates in many school events including convocations and annual springtime festival. The graduating Seniors who have been in band all four years of high school were awarded sweaters. Those receiving sweaters were: Judy Britton, Jerry Brown, Harold Crumpacker, Steve Gardner, Jody Gentry, Dale Griffey, Mildred Hartman, Marcia Meek, Phyllis Shives, Joe Thomas, Larry Wise, and Clarice Yost. The chapter initiated twenty-two new members into the society last fall making our total membership sixty-six girls. The money-making projects were selling Christmas cards and candy. The candy money was contributed to the Riley Fund. As in the past, favors were given at Thanksgiving to the Camden Nursing Home. In De- cember the girls went caroling to the shut-ins in Camden and Rockfield. Social activities included secret pals, a formal initiation, a Christmas party, and a sur- prise St. Patrick's event called a Blarney Party. The theme of our Sweetheart Dance, February 16, was The King and Queen of Hearts. Judy Shoemaker and Larry Hill reigned as our queen and king. The final party for the seniors will be held in May.
