6 THE MEGUNTICOOK soon became another representative to their court. Many of the original gang -had escaped from inside the walls by this term. The total number still in prison was 53. Next, each member took part in a daring escap- ade-the Junior Prom. Once again, money was the big factor. To end this term they celebrated with another party. A few of the most trustworthy were given the privilege of viewing some of their fellow comrades in the horror movie, The Maze. Their last year began with attempt- ed murder. The victims-freshmen. Weapons-makeup, pails, rulers, old rags, flour, perfume, sarcastic Words, orders, but mostly just convicts known as seniors. The results-a great initiation. Another fellow con- spirator entered the gates at this time, a female known as Killer Karol Brown. The case was coming to a close. Each of the prisoners had his picture taken for the permanent files. All information was gathered for the record-The Megunticook. On January 18, 1955, these unfortunates were given a spark of hope-a new outfit to be worn in June-a two-tone blue cap and gown to replace their worn out uniforms. In March all of the prisoners were given two weeks' hard labor in preparation for the Sen- ior Show. This was a farewell show for their fellow inmates who still had terms of one, two, and three years to serve. They called the show the Frantic Fracas of Fifty-Five, and it was considered one of the greatest shows ever presented at the prison. In May this was the latest fact: they had anxiously awaited a much-desir- ed pardon for a week in April, when they were given the liberty of visit- ing Washington, D. C. and New York City, with chaperones, of course. For many that was their first look at the world outside the walls of their small domain. Today, perhaps too soon for the safety of the surrounding area, these inmates are going to court where they will receive a paper signifying that their term is through at C.H.S. Should these dangerous, money-lov- ing, selfish, troublesome persons be released? This is my verdict: There should be many more classes like the class of '55, Now, that's a fact!!! SENIOR CLASS POEM It seems a very short ten years ago That I graduated from Camden High In the fabulous class of '55. My, how those years did fly! You've probably wondered what has Become of that very popular class. As I've kept track of them, I'll tell you of each lad and lass. First, there's our class president, John, Who now has a college degree. He's still a very busy guy As head of a family of three. Paul Davis, our great athlete, Who helped win many a game, Is now playing pro baseball And is married, of course, to Elaine. Judy Ball, our beauty queen, Is now Hollywood's pride and joy. Jessie and Ronnie McIntyre are proud Parents of two girls and a boy. Leo still hasn't settled down and Is seeing all there is to see. Millard is an expert mechanic, I always knew he had ability. Emily graduated from Katharine Gibbsg She's still single, I'm sure you'll find. I know she'll settle down yet, Once she makes up her mind! Pete is a famous engineer With Sandra by his side. Herbie didn't quite make the Dodgers, But I know he surely tried. Bob R. is known near and wideg He's formed a real fine band. Bill C. and Judy have a new home With profits from their taxi stand. Pat Barker is a beautician And also Howard's wife. B. J. is another, so they sav Who is liking Navy life. One of our cheerleaders, Harriett, Tried nursing for a spell, Until she fell in love with a doctor, She's a housewife now, they tell. Teresa hasn't reached five feet yet, But we all wish her lots of luck. Earle Dearborn has a fine job Driving a huge Diesel truck.

THE MEGUNTICOOK 5 NIUR CLASS HISTORY This is the town-Camden, Maine. I work here. I'm a student. My name is Joyce Milliken. My partner's Julia Spear. It is Thursday, June 16, a beautiful day in Camden. A group of 51 boys and girls is going to graduate. My job-to reveal the facts. It all began back in September, 1951. The victims, numbering 70 in all, entered the gates of Camden High School. Like innocent little creatures, they lost their way in the huge prison known to many as Camden High. The warden, Mr. Wood, and his guards, the teachers, tried to keep order in their domain but to no avail. This was a tough case. How could they crack it? Here are the facts. The warden suggested they obtain some order by electing officers for their bewildered but nevertheless dangerous group. These were the results: president, John Christieg vice-president, Paul Davis, secretary, Joyce Millikeng treasurer, Leo Rivard. George Gill- mor was selected to represent them at the court, known as the Student Council. Because this was their first year of a four-year stretch, they didn't have much liberty, but because of good behavior they were allowed to have a party. The date-May 6, 1952. The place-Camden Snow Bowl. They were kept under the watchful eyes of their special guards, Miss Mc- Cobb and Mr. Leach. Even so, this was the result-a swell time by all. So ended the first chapter in this un- usual case. The second year began with a bang! fEarle Dearborn's car backfiredj They had a meeting on September 11, 1952, at 3:00. As they were then con- sidered more trustworthy, they were allowed to elect another member to the Student Council. To whom did this important job fall ?-Pat Barker. By this time they had a new warden, Mr. Richard Goodridge, and several new guards to replace those that they had worn out. In December, an im- portant event took place. Rings were selected and ordered in recognition of their term at C.H.S. Thus ended the second chapter of this spectacular case. At the beginning of the third term, they elected two more members to represent them at court-Herbert Young and Lewis Young. What hap- pened of importance that year? I was given a clue. This was it! The time- Friday night, November 13, 1953. The place-Camden Gym. Cause of excite- ment-the Harvest Ball. The reason -money. I knew it all along. I just played a hunch, sometimes a hunch pays offg sometimes it doesn't. I just played a hunch. At this time a new conspirator joined their group. His name? Notorious Pete Blake. He

Sandra of the sunlamp fame Is now Mrs. Dyer Connell. Betty Jane is a celebrated opera star And is doing very, very well. Carol Brown is another married galg Her husband is in the Merchant Marine. Walter is the strong man at the Union Fairy He's the best I've ever seen. Barbara has just completed a book, Its title: How to Flirt With a Man. David P. and Karen have five kidsg He's living according to his plan! Stuart and Connie are Mr. and Mrs., Which doesn't surprise us at all. A very active church worker Is fine singer, Thelma Small. Judy Payson and Ruth Young are singing On their own show on TV. Billy Chalmers has become a pianist And is big competition for Liberace. The courteous ways of Julia and Joel Many of us did desireg Both of them are very successful And leading lives that we admire. Richard Brown shrank to five feet two, The result of a newly invented pill. Janice still doesn't weigh 100 pounds, But she says, Just wait, I will! Gordon is a hermit, living in the Northg He says this life for him is ideal. Phyllis has lived in many places. To her, traveling does appeal. Joyce R. and Betty R. are happy girlsg Both have already said, I do. The best telephone operator in these parts Is the ever popular Betty Boo, The state's championship basketball team ls coached by our former star, Jim Dean. Jane Hart is still residing in Hope But is better known as Mrs. Herbert Bean. Lorraine is a lady professor at Harvardg She always was so very bright. Donis is enjoying his life's ambition: Plenty of money and moonlight! THE MEGUNTICOOK 7 Dave Hart a successful farmer is: To him, much-deserved happiness has come. Helen Stearns gained much renown, When she invented a nylon drum. Mary Richardson was a secretary Until for a Brewer boy she fellg I hear she's still quite mischievous, But as a wife and mother does excel. As for me, I've traveled over the United States many and many a time, But people as nice as my high school Classmates are mighty few, I find. Once a year we get together And how the words do fly, As we talk about our happy Memories and days at Camden High. In my various wanderings, I've Met many people who are great, But when compared to my classmates, Somehow they just don't rate. So if you want your class To really be on the ball, Just follow in the footsteps of Our class-the best one of them all!
