Soccer The soccer team got off to a slow start this season, but under the field leadership of co-captains Jon Danch and Aldo Di Stefano the team came back to post a 6-8-1 record against good competition. Several of the opponents were nationally ranked with one finishing third in the National Playoffs. Defensive standouts, along with the co-captains Jon and Aldo, were George Tait, Peter Mercado, Tony Samulis, Larry Maggi, Dennis Boyle, Mauddi Mauddi, Tom Sparks and Bill Kelly. The offensive unit, who averaged over two goals a game, were lead by Carmen Baggiano with 12 goals and one assist, and Dave Rauer, 8 goals and 6 assists. Other forwards were W. John Murray, Jr., Roger Ennis, Dave Southard, Jeff Reader, Jerry Bonawitz and Wasfi Omair. The goal tending duties were shared by Frank Schillig, Dave Southard and Felix Garcia. The average number of saves per game was 12.2 with the opposi- tion averaging four goals a game. Joe Nowak was in charge of athletic training and managerial duties.
