But after putting up with us for a year Miss DeVore sent us on to second grade and Miss Harned. Shirley Held joined us there. We learned to tell time and found that a year had passed and we were in the third grade with Mrs. Conroe. Barbara Van Matre had left the year before but came back to go on with us to the fourth grade and Mrs. Darrow. Some of us were in the Hansel and Gretel Operetta this year. By the end of this year she had us well settled and ready to see what fifth grade with Mrs. Van Alstyne could do for us. Bill Cozadd and Nancy Boylan left but Nancy Lee Laipple, Bob Watson and Dick Andrews came to take their places. Mrs. Van Alstyne soon hur- ried us off to sixth grade where Miss Rubner was ready and waiting. Now we were the big shots of tge gvralile school. This year we welcomed Phil Bryant who marched on to the Ir. Hi and seventh gra e us. Mrs. Smith greeted us on our arrival. Here we were joined by the kids from Cussewago Township who helped liven up the class a bit. Bob Abel came from Cochranton. Mrs. Smith kept us as long as she could and then sent us on to Mr. Orr and eighth grade where we were tamed down again and found that school wasn' t getting any easier. The next year came quick. Now we were Freshmen! We were robbed. Mr. Orr left us, ------ in the same room!! Here we picked up the prize--Mr. Kwaintonowski. Our class was greatly increased this year by the newcomers from Rockdale, Venango, Woodcock, Drakes Mills, and Isherwood. By the time that year was over we were running wild and straight for tenth grade. Parting was such sweet sorrow, but Mrs. DeFede, Mr. Stearns, and Mr. St. Iohn took us in. Maxine Hoovler came from Edinboro to liven up the commercial class. Romayne Wellmon joined us in the middle of the year. We decided that being Sophomores wasn' t good enough for us so we hurried on to become dignified Iuniors. We found Miss Kelly and Mr. Keim more than willing to accept us as their own. We presented the Junior play, Meet My Wives, which was very successful. In honor of the Seniors we gave the Star Dust Ball. Wayne Zwald joined us and on we went to our goal. Now we are Seniors! We presented the Senior Play Take it Easy. Jackie Mickens and Wayne Knapp left us. Miss Cousins and Mr. Iones kept us well in hand during our last year. We' ll go on next year, some here and some there, but we will never forget the best years of our lives that we spent at Cambridge Springs Hi. MISS DE VORE'S FLIGHT 1 1941 ' 1 f ' ROW 1 - J.
