Newcomers and visitors to CRLS are often baffled by the sheer size of the student body. Often there seem to be more students than there actually are, because social life at CRLS is carried on everywhere: in corridors, cafeterias, at lockers, in stairwells and, for Juniors and Seniors, in the famous SSC. In this respect, CRLS is like any other highschool; the multiplicity of racial backgrounds may be distinctive, but the existence of cliques and gossip networks, the in-school dating scene and the combination of off-the-wall personalities make this school identical to high schools around the world.

Now more than ever there is freedom in fashion. While ten and twenty years ago, there was one style that had to be followed by all of the ‘‘in” people, now, anything goes. Shoes range from traditional penny loafers and flats to combat boots. Boys can pierce and double pierce their ears, wear hot pink and Day-Glo blue. For girls, the mini skirt has come back to stay and pants are not neccessarily worn separately from skirts.
