Career Resource Center We Dedicate Our Book Because ... You encouraged those who were reaching for more and added hope in the minds of those who were in despair. You showed us with all the current resources and career information that there is life after High School. You prepared us to take our first step into that life ... , aN important step into the real world of adulthood, a world where we make decisions and become accountable for their outcome. You are teachers, counselors and professionals wno were never foo busy fo answer questions, and more importantly, never too professional to relate to students on a comfortable, personal level. Ms. Ginny McCabe Career Counselor A former English teacher at St. Mary’s High in Cambridge, Ms. McCabe came to C.R.LS. in September of 1971. As a permanent substitute in the English Department for her first year, Ms. McCabe “weathered” some of the most challenging classes in the history of her career. She comments, “It was during this time that | leamed what education was — an honest exchange between teacher and student — a true realization that these roles interchange.” A member of the English Department for five years, Ms. McCabe taught many Senior classes. During this time she recognized the need to provide more direct services to students. Moving on to the Career Center, Ms. McCabe changed both the “name” of the Center and the focus of career planning at our high school. Her contributions to C.R.L.S. and the Cambridge community include being a former C.T.A. Representative and Faculty Club Executive Board Member, launching the RCA Minority Exploratory Engineering Program being a Summer Coordinator for the E.M.H.R.D.A. Youth Employment Program, and serving on the Harshbarger Education Task Force. A graduate of Emmanuel College, Ms. McCabe received her Masters’ from Boston State and Masters’ Plus credits from Boston College. Recently, she completed a long-term goal by receiving her Real Estate Salesperson’s license. In her “spare” time Ms, McCabe is politically active and has been A Campaign Manager, organizing neighborhood groups to effect change in education. “The love and example of my tamily has been the foundation of my commitment to youth. | have touched many students’ lives at C.R.LS. and they in turn have touched mine — all of us better people for having met.” 4 Ms. Kathleen N.
