During this time he sought to bring about many positive changes in our school. We appreciate the changes that Mr. Turner attempted to bring about, but realize that he lacked the needed encourage- ment, support, and cooperation of both the students and the staff. Even though we entered the school not knowing who Mr. Turner was, we soon found out. Mr. Turner could always be found in the corridors talking with and helping students. The graduating class of ‘79 had three prosperous and productive years with Mr. Turner and would like to thank him for his help, guidance, and leadership. We the Yearbook Staff and students of C.R.L.S. proudly dedicate our school yearbook to Mr. Mike Turner. We wish him the best in his future endeavors. The production was the largest effort ever by the department. The production was a system wide presentation including participants from the elementary and secondary programs, totaling over nine hundred students. The program played to capacity audiences each night. Oklahoma was well received by all who saw it and we look forward to other outstanding pro- ductions by the students of CRLS. wSCN4 ASOOT,, Everybody's MVP, Patrick Ewing, receives his individual A smiling Coach Jarvis and son, along with captains Charlie Neal and Kevin Moore, accept State Championship award from Tourney official. Led by the exploits of “Peking’’ Ewing and his colleagues, Kevin Moore, Charlie Neal, Billy Ewing, Stephen Heywood and a host of others, the CRLS ‘B”’ ball team made state history. With a record of 27-0, they captured the Division One State Championship. Their victory over Holyoke, combined with the girls’ victory over Saint Peter-Merian, CRLS became the first school in the state’s history to capture Boys’ and Girls’ Championship in the same division. We salute the efforts of the coaches and the team members for giving us a ‘Spring to Remember’. DIVISION ONE STATE CHAMPIONS Members of the Division One State Champions line up for introductions and the national anthem prior to the Salem contest at Medford High School. What a way to go out! This might be said about seniors and unfortunately the Coach of the CRLS Girls’ team. For three years, seniors Debbie Foderingham, Michelle Thibault, Cheryl Williams and Shery! Pierce had come so close. In 1977 they lost in the finals to Chicopee Comprehensive and in ‘78 they lost to Brockton in the E-Mass Finals at Norwell. This year they were not to be denied. Led by the above named seniors and junior Nora Maldonado, along with Sophomore sensation Medina Dixon, they entered the final game with a 19-1 record and lots of confidence. When the final buzzer sounded we were indeed number one!! With this final victory and fulfillment, it was sad to hear that Coach O’Cal- lahan would be moving on. She accepted a coaching position at Boston University. Coach O'Callaghan brought the fans of CHLS and now CRLS a lot of joy and excitement, and finally a State Championship. For this we say Thank You and we wish our ‘‘Coach’’ the best of Luck at BU.
