CRYSTAL A tiny speck, its presence first unknown, ls gradually discerned, and to the eye Its mass takes on a form; as time goes by It constantly expands, for thus is grown A Crystal, nature’s gem. Its growth has shown ‘AA miracle of symmetry to vie With man’s most perfect jewels, by contrast dry. This mystery of growth is God’s alone. We too are growing; do we ever show Such steady growth, such form so well refined? And are the many facets of our lives So carefully, so beautifully combined? If we, like sparkling crystals, aim aright We must absorb, and yet reflect, God’s light. Julian Smith
