' S l 1 1 1 LOUKING AHEAD Synopsrs of a day's adventure of the semor class of 1950 On an unexpected occasnon a pas senger plane was forced down In a field on the farm of Lyman Dahlgren two mules northwest of Cambrldge He rushed to the scene of the accident and prued open the battered plane door He was greeted by the our host ess Bessie Cook a former fellow classmate There was one lngury aboard Phyl Swan also a former resident of Cam bridge who was belng flown In to occupy the posltlon of history teacher ln the local hugh school suffered a fractured toe Pat Matheny physncal education teacher at the Unlverslty of Andover another occupant of the Plane rush ed to the phone and called Dr Shlrley Burnett a bone speclallst resldmg In Orson llllnoas In the meantime the alr hostess as slsted the other passengers from the plane Among these was Jean Rosen stone the noted golf Instructor at the Mldland Country Club Jean IS return :ng from a successful tour of Europe Follownng Jean was Lols Gustafson a head waitress at Hardmgs Just Wonderful Food Restaurant un Chu cago Other occupants of the plane were Forrest Hayes and Donna Ladd Mlss Ladd and Mr Hayes the local Home Adviser and Farm Advlser re spectuvely were returning from an Agricultural and Home Economics Conventuon In Chicago Gilbert Dobbels a seed corn deal er happened to be drlvlng by ln his beaten up Chevy He rushed to the wrecked plane After vlewlng the slt uatlon he declded to call a friend and fellow classmate Ervln Robinson who resided south of town Mr Roblnson and Mr Dobbels provlded adequate transportatlon mto town When the group reached Cambrldge they were greeted by Mary Thorp the local Red Cross supervlsor of Cambridge Mary Informed Alan Hoyt a famed veter marlan and occupant of the plane that he was wanted on the phone Lewns Shreck farm east of Cambrldge Lewis IS also a former classmate of Mr Hoyt After carrylng out all the rural tele phone calls arlsmg from the forced alrplane landing Helen Bengston the local telephone operator decided to go on strlke for higher wages This reumon seemed to be one of Mr Ripley s Believe It or not s The entnre class of 1950 were reunited be cause of thus plane crash The Class of 1950 then decided to commemorate the occasion In their usual hugh school celebratlon of days gone by ' I . The scorrng was fairly even wlth Blalr scorlng three T D s Metz 2 and Johnson another Mosher made two kucks and Metz scored two addltlonal pomts both on conversions Cambridge 48 Wllllamsfleld 25 In thus game everyone played ex cept our mascot The Wllluamsfleld team who had lust started playing football thus year dndnt have the ex perlence of the Vlkungs Hayes and Blalr each scored two T D s and John son Blork and Gregory each added one Mosher made two klcks and Metz who played very lnttle because of a weak knee made two pomts Cambrndge 40 Alwood 20 In thus game we lourneyed to Alpha and played an a hard ram The ram fall was so severe that the game was stopped at one tlme We showed our ablllty to play even ln bad weather and went on to beat Alwood wlth Metz scorlng four touchdowns Blalr two and Mosher completmg It by makung two conversions Cambrldge 12 Atkinson 6 Thus game proved to be one of the toughest contests of the year lt was at thus tlme that Jerry Metz our stal wart half back was knocked uncon sclous for a tlme thus putting hlm out of the game Vincent our end scored his flrst touchdown of the year and Blalr added the second Cambndge 20 Hillsdale 27 In our last game of the year with Hillsdale we massed two of our regu lars Jerry Metz and Ervin Robinson as the fmal score showed Johnson scored two touchdowns Blalr another and Mosher made a kick for two pomts thus endmg the T949 1950 football season with sux wlns and two losses .
