2 Memories of yester-years The days of the past have done gone, But the memories will always remain, Not of just good but also of bad, Not only happy but also sad. When days grow long and lonely, Memories reveal themselves to fill the time. David Pearson Trojan Faculty, the staff Tom Cotton Superintendent The Trojan faculty of 1979-1980 consisted of twenty teachers, all of whom did a fine job at their profession. They worked hard to try to teach the students mathematics, economics, arts, music, and gram- mar. They should be given a large amount of recognition for actually teaching because school is primarily for learning. A foundation that will be important if the student goes to work or if he continues his education when his high school days are over. This year was the first time students were required to take six classes. This gave them a little more homework and not so much free time. Billy Schlagel shows his enthusiasm for his Chemistry. Students learn by doing Through vocational, home ec., and art classes, students learn by doing. The things they learn like sewing, typing, woodworking, will be valuable in their futures. Since computers are frequently being used in today’s business world, the school purchased one this year for the students to use. A stained glass window was made for the school by one of the art classes. Because of the construction being done on the school, ag and industrial arts classes were without a shop. One of their projects this year was to shingle a house the school had bought. Julie Palmer gets some sewing help on her shirt from Miss Wulf. Senior Ind. Trojans capped the regular season by winning the R.V.L. conference and advancing to the State Class C quarter finals against Overton on the home turf. An easy win led to the semi-finals against Ansley and the final game of an otherwise terrific season. Indicative of their fine efforts, several team members received recognition on the confer- ence and state levels. The team consisted of Juniors Alan Nelson, J.D. Harpst and Freshman Michael Hansen. The team was enthusiastic, worked hard, and showed much improvement during the season. With a continued good attitude toward the work involved and some recruiting for next year, the team could be very, very competitive. They were unable to qualify any boys for the State tournament, but did score well in some of the meets they attended. Volleyball takes second in MVL The Cambridge girls’ team put in a lot of hardwork, and came away with several impressive victories. Those included a 2nd place finish in the MVL Tournament.
