Sitting: C. Flammang, T. tenBensel, D. Flammang. 13 Cross Country The 1971-72 edition of the Cambridge Cross- Country team consisted of one senior, one junior, three sophomores, and one freshman. Sophomore Ray Schlegel led the young Tro- jans in three triangular meets at McCook and placed 4th out of 62 runners in the Kearney College Invitational. Ray also qual- ified for the state meet by placing 6th in the District meet at Ogallala. Cambridge was the highest placing class D team at the dis- trict meet, ending up 5th. Record Wreak ing Jear 3or Qirls This year four out of twelve school records fell. Of the class records, one Senior, three Junior, one Sophomore and three Freshman records were broken. The Track team won the Mid-Valley Track Meet this year. As a team they placed third at District with Doak Nickerson, Phil Young, and Ray Schlegel qualifying for State. Phil Young won the 180 Lows in Class D At State. With the depth and interest of the younger Trojans, it looks like the Track team should do well in the next few years.
