I believe I have found it at last in Cambridge. Eighteen members of the class began their schooling in Cambridge and have contributed to its greatness since learning the Pledge of Allegiance in Kindergarten. These founding Foundlings were Ann Brooks, Jerry Brown, Kathleen Estes, Carla Hayen, Kathryn Hecox, Gail Kasson, Don Krauss, Russell Miracle, Glenda Moore, Larry Ommert, Cathy Powell, Wayne Sayer, Dick Stanton, Kathy Stewart, Mike Taylor, Gary tenBensel, Connie Trosper, and John Zabel. Jim Teter was enlisted into the corps in the first grade. Then Sharon Amann emigrated to Cambridge in the second grade. Refugees into the fourth grade class were Melanie Chamness, David Jackson, and Benny Paisley. Virginia Rupe was the next to take the oath of Allegiance when she joined the fifth grade class. Dean Witte came in the sixth grade. Margaret Allen and Gloria Parker infiltrated the seventh grade class as the great group passed through Junior High. In High School the freshmen, destined for greatness in 1966, gained Wilma Farr and Bob Hageman. As Sophomores Connie and Ronnie Dewey came, insuring the greatness of the class beyond a doubt. When they were juniors, newcomers came from near and far to be a part of their great class. Barbara Mollring came from Holbrook and Pam Laverack came from New York. John Urling and Barbara Besler knew a good thing when they saw it and added their talents their senior year. And that is the story, Lyndon, of the greatest class in our Great Society. HOMECOMING 1966 Homecoming festivities began Thursday night, September 30, when a group composed of the C.H.S. Band, Pep Club, Football team, and Victory Float, paraded from the school to the park where a bonfire rally was held, complete with burning effigies of the opposing team. Friday, October 1, found Homecoming in full swing. Decorated cars and windows and honking horns kept the interest high. Beaver City came to meet the Trojans that night, but went away with a loss. The score 46 to 6, gave Cambridge its fourth straight win of the season. Following the game, the coronation was held in the high school gym with the public invited. A dance was then held with high school students, dates, and alumni attending. 54 THIS PAGE SPONSORED BY DICK’S FRONTIER AND KRANINGER BUSINESS SERVICE At Pioneer Village. Motion carried! What, Margaret? 56 EVENING IN PARIS JUNIOR-SENIOR PROM Friday, May sixth, the Junior Class of C.H.S. presented the 1966 Junior- Senior Prom. Carrying out the “Evening in Paris’’ theme, the Congregational Church was decorated with blue and white streamers hung from the ceiling leading to the center where two carts of red, pink, and white carnations were placed. Six sophomore boys and six girls dressed as French waiters and waitresses served the meal. Following the program with speaker Don Stine, the Junior Class presented their sponsors Mrs. Wood, Miss Troxell, and Mr. Manley, with red roses and a key chain. After the banquet, a dance was held in the high school gym. Music was provided by the “Laddens.” The gym was decorated as a Paris street with sidewalk cafe complete with awnings, tables, and red brick and stone walls. A beautiful mural of the Eiffel Tower was at the north end of the gym, and the band at the south. In the center was a fountain and pool. This all combined to make a very lovely and romantic evening. Following the dance, a comedy, “Move Over, Stupid,” was seen at the show building. A breakfast followed to complete the festivities. 57 ATHLETIC BANQUET SPORTS IN ACTION March 18, 1966 PROGRAM Invocation..........Rev.
