Senior Class History In the tragic year of 1948 fourteen little kiddies went marching into Mrs. Poush's classroom. Among these brilliant scholars to be were: John Johnson, Alice FoSer, Bernard Jones, Ricky Taylor, Carolee Johnson, Danny Sexton, Donnie Case, Carol Ann Minnick, Gary Estergard, Connie Rauch, Kathy Beals, Jimmy Brown, Eric Eisenhart, and Catherine Sayer. The next two years went by uneventfully but by the time we were fourth graders things began to happen. The biggest event came when Linda Avery was added to our number. We grew in stature, intelligence, and number in the fifth grade. Retha Cherry made her grand debut late that Spring. The prevailing game that year and the following was girls chase the boys and boys chase the girls. Walt Jones finally decided to give up his little country schoolhouse and come to town school in the sixth grade. Orafino gave us our eighteenth member, Margie Allen, and Norma Lamb came to us from McCook in the eighth grade. We finished junior high with eighth grade graduation. Nineteen of us, unsteady and unstately ventured on to high school. Paul Bentley, Marvin Banzhaf, and Dale Allen joined us our freshman year. Freshman initiation scared us all half to death but we all survived the minnows and frogs. Richard Haith, after joining and leaving us four or five times previously, decided to join us a final time our sophomore year. We started saving for our Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom this year. We had two Penny Arcades but the last was a flop, remember seniors? Finally our second-biggest year came. At last we were considered upperclassmen and we really lived the title. We presented our class play, It's Great To Be Crazy and had lots of fun doing it. Our long awaited class rings came in December. After the play we started working on the Prom. We chose Oriental Gardens as our theme and I think everyone will agree it was a huge success. Only too soon, our last and final year arrived. Jon Heumphreus and Penny Hovelsrud joined us there. We all realized this was our last year of participation in high school football, basketball, track, band, pep club, banquets, etc. We had our senior pictures taken and we all agreed Habermans did a remarkable job considering, of course, what they had to work with. Our class play, Just Ducky, turned out to be a great success to the surprise and delight of everyone involved. At last, but by far not the least came Sneak Day and Com- mencement.
