STUDENT COUNCIL The objectives of the Student Council of Cambridge High School are to develop student responsibility, initiative, leadership , and school pride; to promote the best of co-operation between the student body and the faculty, to pro- mote worthy citizenship training, to provide a working model of a governmental unit under which students will live, and to provide a means for pupil expression. Members of the student council, which are elected for one year, have a fairly high scholastic standing. There are three representatives, each from the Junior and Senior classes, and two each from the Freshman and Sophomore classes. The President of the student council is always a Senior, the Vice-President can be a Junior or Senior, and the Secretary-Treasurer can be from any of the classes. These officers are not changed at the semester but are elected for the whole year. The Superintendent sponsors the student council, and anything passed by the student council is subject to his or the Principal’s veto. 24
