Ellis Sophomores The second year of high school started as the Sophomore Class elected the following officers for the first semester: President, K. Hilton; Vice-President, D. Tellus; Secretary, C. Berres; Treasurer, L. Moseley; Class Reporter, L. Nicholson; and Student Council member, D. Ellis. The Sophomores helped break the monotony of study, study, study, when they sponsored a Penny Arcade” to which the entire student body was invited. Juniors The many events filling the Junior year of high school started quickly for the twenty-eight members of this class. First the wonderful class rings were ordered, then the Juniors sponsored the Sadie Hawkins Dance. November 20th was the night of the Junior Class Play, a comedy entitled Quit Your Kidding. When the second semester started plans were quickly formulated for the high spot of the year, the Junior-Senior Prom, which was held May 3rd. The Juniors were also very active in athletics, musical groups, FHA, FFA, Pep Club, and ”C Club. The officere for the first semester were: President, J. Avery; Vice-President, S. Arnold; Secretary, B. Phelps; Treasurer, M. Smith; and Student Council member, R. Banzhaf. The second semester officers were: President, C. Simon; Vice-President, K. Bible; Secretary, P. Ellis; Treasurer, R. Banzhaf; and Student Council, L. Jones. 20

Stevens, G. Estergard, K. Schroeder. Freshman The class of 1960 began their high school record with 33 members. The following were the officers elected for the first semester: President, J. Brown; Vice-President, R. Cherry; Secretary, J. Johnson; Treasurer, K. Schroeder; Class Reporter, D. Case; and Student Council Member, J. Harding. Second semester the officers were: President, B. Downey; Vice-President, M. Banzhaf; Secretary, J. Harding; Treasurer, L. Avery; Class Reporter, R. Cherry; and Student Council Member, J. Johnson. The much dreaded ordeal of initiation was finally suffered the evening of September 12. Thirteen freshman girls became members of the Cambridge Pep Club; two, R. Cherry and K. Beals, were second team cheerleaders. Nineteen boys took part in the CHS football program; many were also active in basketball and track. 22
