This is our way of par- tially expressing our sincere gratitude for the excellent advice and inspiration, as an outstand- ing citizen of our community, that you have giv- en us. This trophy, purchased by the lettermen's club, his classmates, and his innumerable friends will be presented each year to an R.V.L. student who has shown high standards of sportsmanship such as those displayed by Norman when he participated as a member of the Cambridge athletic teams. Each R.V.L. town shall have four votes - the school superintendent, the school coach, the athletes, and a committee of three local townsmen. No town may vote for a local athlete. The winner will receive a medal and the trophy will remain at his respective school for a designated period of time when it is then returned to Cambridge. This award symbolizes good sportsmanship in athletic relationships and is intended to encourage the development of the high standards of sportsmanship be- tween R.V.L. teams, which was symbolic of “Tommy”. May 2, 1957 McCook, Nebraska Dear Allene, Thought I’d drop my work and write you a few lines. I started thinking this morning about all our good times in old C. H. S. and what has happened to all the kids in four long years. You knew Elton Teter had married Mary Ellen and that they were living on a nice little farm ten miles north of Bartely. They’re very happy too, raising cattle and children. I ran on to Jean Allen just yesterday and she's been teaching in Kansas wait- ing until Kenneth gets through college. Virginia and Pee Wee are very happily married now and have the sweetest little girl. Pee Wee is coaching at Oklahoma and Virginia seems to be using her musical career singing lullabies. I haven’t seen Dale Sayer for more than two years but I hear he made himself a millionaire when he struck oil on Georgia Harsh’s land. Say, here I’ve been babbling on about everyone else and haven’t asked a thing about yourself. How’s fixing people’s hair? I’ve been busy with six weeks tests and with forty in a class, I don’t have much spare time. You know that Moseley kid? Well, he’s still playing the field trying to get himself a girl! Don Arnold is still a bachelor, believe it or not, and has been doing very well in Denver with his women’s shoe store. Connie is working in the Telephone office in McCook. She still writes Bob, but nothing serious, I guess. Say, is Margie really engaged to Pat? I never thought she’d hook him ! ! Rodney Sisson is married to a very cute red head from Wilsonville, I hear. Dick Wright married Shirley when she graduated. They have two girls and Dick runs the Co-op station in Manhattan. Jerome Conlin is doing well these days with his hundred acre irrigated farm south of Cambridge, still single too, girls! Dick Moore has his carpenter shop and he and Sharon are very happy with a little bundle of joy! Well, golly. I've finally run down and must close for now. Write and tell me what news you’ve heard from the rest of the class. Bye for now, Sharon May 7, 1957 Hastings, Nebr. Dear Sharon, I was very glad to hear from you and the gossip was great. Gosh, I hadn’t heard about the kids from home for some time. As you know, I am going to Hastings Beauty Academy. School and my job at the drug store are really keeping me busy. I saw Sam yesterday. He has a job at General Motors and is really making a go of it with cars and women! I also saw Twila when I was in Lincoln. She is head waitress at Gold’s and a I walked in, she was winking at one of the customers. Speaking of truck drivers, one whizzed by me yesterday and it was none other than Kenneth Brown. I got a letter from June yesterday. She and Francie are married now and have three little brownie scouts. She also told me our classmate. Bill Ridpath, has a new show building in Cambridge and has been giving the Ritz tough competition. I read in the World Herald that John O’Brien was arrested for brawling in a tavern in Hollywood, and guess who he had out - that cute little Debbie Reynolds. Mr. and Mrs. Gay Bellamy were shopping in Hastings the other day. They have three little boys. Butch, Jimmy and Joe, just as good looking as their father, too! I talked to Bev in Brandies when I was in Omaha and she’s a big-time operator in Denver, some kid!! A well-dressed woman walked into the beauty shop yesterday, and much to my surprise, it was the former LolaDeselms. She is married now and her husband is a Corporal in the army. She told me Alfreda has taken up dress designing and is employed by Kilpatrick’s. Time sure does fly, and so does David Edgerton. I read in the paper he was in Washington flying jets around. I almost forgot about that brainy Roland Carter. He is a scientist at Einstein s firm and doing quite well. He and Sandra are married now and quite happy, despite money. Well, I’m running out of paper, so will close for now. Margie is blinding me with her diamond she just got from Pat. That girl is walking on clouds!! I hope to hear from you soon and all about your teaching profession. Be sure and keep me posted on your future plans of marriage to Lewie. See Ya, Allene Freshmen Class TOP ROW: R. Fitcher, L. Burke, M. Simon. CAMBRIDGE 39 - BENKLEMAN 6 The Trojans got off to a fine start by downing the Tigers in the season’s opener with comparative ease. The blocking was fair for the first game and our backs were getting loose in the secondary repeatedly for fine gains. CAMBRIDGE 32 - TRENTON 6 Cambridge beat a hard-fighting and hard-running Warrior club by sheer work on the part of the line and the speed of Gay Bellamy and Dick Moore. The highlight of the game was a pass from Carter to Bellamy which covered fifty-six yards and a touchdown. CAMBRIDGE 39 - OXFORD 7 Cambridge won handily in their first conference go. The line lived up to the ex- pectations and played a very good game. Oxford was practically helpless on the ground. The blocking was sharp, enabling Cambridge backs to gain and score con- sistently. CAMBRIDGE 13 - BEAVER CITY 0 The Trojans had a very hard time getting started against the Bearcats. Gay Bellamy scored the only touchdowns and played a sweet game in spite of a knocked down shoulder. Jerome Conlin showed especially well in this game as he came through consistently with fine short gains. CAMBRIDGE 39 - GIBBON 14 The Trojans journeyed to the Buffalo’s home field for their fifth game and had an easy time with their fifth straight win. Elton Teter and Charles turned in a very fine defensive performance on the end positions. Highlights of the game were Gay Bellamy’s three long touchdown runs and Dick Moore's fine punt return. The Tro- jans were outweighed in the line and the team as a whole, but the work of L. Moore, D. Stearns, D. Wright, D. Sayer, and B. Mousel made up for the balance of weight and stopped the Buffalos cold. CAMBRIDGE 7 - FRANKLIN 14 Cambridge lost a heart-breaker to a strong Flyer club. The game had hardly any highlights of this game as every Trojan gave it all he had. All-State center Don Perdue played his usual brilliant game and received help from his fellow linemen when the going was rough. CAMBRIDGE 44 - ELWOOD 13 This game was another hard one to get started for the Trojans. The first half consisted of very little scoring with Elwood dominating the ball. After a few sharp words by Coach Stephenson at the half, the game was going our way consistently as the Tro- jans caught fire. CAMBRIDGE 25 - ST. CECELIA 36 The Trojans lost this one to a very fast Bluehawk squad of mostly sophomores and juniors. The game was a very close one with Cambridge drawing first blood on a pass to D. Moore who neatly stepped for the tally. CAMBRIDGE 20 - ALMA 13 Cambridge won the finale on a very wet and sloppy Cardinal home field. Gay Bellamy scored on a short plunge for the first tally. Elton Teter recovered a punt blocked by Dennis Stearns for a touchdown. On the last play of the game, Dick Moore circled right end for six yards and a tally. HOMECOMING At halftime festivities of the Cambridge-Franklin contest, Virginia Brown was crowned Football Queen. Attending her was Connie Sayer and Beverly Shoff. All three girls are seniors. The girls were chosen by the entire football team. Basketball Track BACK ROW: Dick Moore, Charles Druse, Ronnie Tomlin, Gene Carter, John Fidler, John Minnick, Stan Druse, Dennis Stearns.
