Superintendent Coming to Cambridge in 1956, Mr. Shelby has directed the Cambridge City Schools Through a period of growth in en- rollment and enrichment of curriculum. Vocational education in the fields of business, home economics, trade and in- dustry, and electronics, summer school on both the elementary and secondary levels, and evening adult education classes have provided greater educational opportunities forthe entire community. Educational television in the classrooms throughout the city and the inauguration of an inservice training program for teachers, using the Telecommunication Program spon- sored by Ohio State University over WOSU, have been well received by all participants. Mr. Shelby's interest in educational tele- vision is evidenced by the fact that he has been re-elected to a three year term on the Board of Directors of the Midwest Program Airborne Television Instruction, covering six states. ln a more recent eftort to help the Cam- bridge City Schools make progress in these changing times, Mr. Shelby has been making a study of the Appalachia Program and the new Federal Aid to Education Bill to find ways that our schools can benefit from these programs. Dale Thomas began teaching in the Cambridge City Schools in 1919, remaining a total of forty-five years. He was an instructor in the ln- dustrial Arts Department, then supervisor of the department, and for the past sixteen years, has been Business Manager for the Cambridge City School System. Mr. Thomas has been loyal, efficient, and dedi- cated to doing his best for the boys and girls of the Cambridge City Schools. During the building of the high school, Mr. Thomas was responsible for purchasing all of the moveable equipment, thus saving thousands of dollars in commissions. During his tenure in the Cambridge City Schools, he has accumulated a vast store of knowledge about our buildings. After his retirement, at the end of this school year, he will undoubtedly be called many times for advice and suggestions.
