This would completely clear the debt for the past years and pay for the yearbook for this year, and increase the size of the book by eight pages. With Jyll Wolford as Editor and Gaylene rlatt as Assis- tant Editor, the staff sold doughnuts and advertising to reach this year’s goal. Last summer Jyll and Mrs. Lunsford went to the yearbook workshop in Twin Falls which accounted ror the vast im- provement in this year’s layouts. The staff also was instructed on how to put the yearbook on the computer for the coming year. All this makes for a better book each year. Thank you staff. The year started by installing our new Green hands and Chapter Farmers at the An- nual Degree Night. Soon after. Jason Mink and Mr. I edington, Advisor, left for Washington D.C. to represent the state of Idaho at the Building Our American Communities Conference (BOAC). The trip was packed with a lot of educational seminars and sightseeing. Our next m jor event was our Pancake supper fund raiser in March. It was a great success with a lot of good food and many people to eat it. In April we held our Awards Banquet with the lunch ladies serving an excellent roast beef dinner. Outstan- ding member awards were given to Shauna Deweese, Star Green hand and Steve Braun, Star Chapter Farmer. Throughout the year we participated in many district and state contests. A delegation attended State Convention in Rexburg and many awards were received there. We had a very successful year and hope to continue that success into the future. This was the first year each girl was given a locker bud- dy and decorated or pro- vided treats for that in- dividual throughout the basketball season. We had good participation at the sport events and had some very positive feedback from com- munity people on our cheering section Pep Club, Top Row: Jen- nifer Phelps, Maria Westbrook, Betty Morris. 2nd Row: Tina Sheffield, Debra Dibble, Jennifer Kincaid, Missy Stippich, Kerri Ivey, Heidy Braun, Crystal Newman, Suni Campbell. 3rd Row: Melin- da Flesch, Nicole Cates, Tonya Crockett, Shawna Deweese, Sarah Phelps, Tami Ogle, Koli Reid, Dee Porter. 4th Row: Shamona Spreadbury, Kim Kretten, Karen Howland, Lili Richel, Jyll Wolford, Eighmie Reeder, Dana Harris, Angie Swenson, Dawn Kreps. Who can forget Janel’s blocking or Tami’s dives across the floor? Cambridge has a reputation for being the leaders in volleyball. Our team’s suc- cess can be attributed to good basic fun- damentals. Our exciting attack is possi- ble because of our control of the forearm pass. Without a good bump there can be no attack. I’m proud that my team has the courage to try new skills, even though initially it may mean risking a few failures. Homecoming 87 Thursday evening’s activities started off with a pep rally put on by the cheerleaders with a skit and some new cheers they introduced to the rest of the school. Then the real fun began with the snake dance. It was the same as every year, the Freshmen did their skit beneath the water tower, while the Sophomores did theirs at Bucky’s. Instead of the Juniors doing theirs at the bank and the Seniors doing theirs at their corner, they swit- ched to trick the Freshmen. The lighting of the Bonfire was next, which caused great anxiety in the Freshmen. The next day was a football game against Cascade. The score was Cambridge 22; Cascade 20. The royalty court finished with Kari Campbell being crowned as Homecoming Queen and Darin Braun as Mr. Foot- ball, candidates were Scooter Vogel, Jason Mink, and Karl Wagner. The candidates for Homecoming Queen were Glen- da Porter, Candy Butterfield, and Jenny Phelps. We are all very proud of our royalty, you looked marvelous! Blending together defensive and offensive skills, the 87-88 squad displayed its athletic skills on every outing. As this young team gained experience, it became obvious that their determination and desire would carry them into the State Tournment. Finishing second place in the Long Pin and third at District seemed to in- spire this team as they paved the road to a State Championship. I believe their unwillingness to accept defeat earned them a state trophy and cap- tured the hearts of many spectators. Words may not be enough to describe their accomplishments, but their performances certainly gained respect of ail concerned. Let not their victories be forgotten, nor their desire to win, but instead, let it be carried over to future years at C.H.S. COACH WOODMAN 35 J.U. The 1987-88 season was filled with many peaks and valleys. Although our victories were few, our committment was strong as I saw progress in many individual players. Winning basketball games is not as important as the will to win, but even more importantly is the will to prepare to win. This year was a great learning ex- perience for both players and coach. I sincerely hope these young men con- tinue to strive for perfection by im- proving their skills in the off season and return to the hardwood with even more determination. 37 Coach Woodman Dedication. Determination. Desire The Cambridge Varsity (boys) team had a league record of 5-7 and an overall record of 8-11. The Bulldogs finished tied for 4th in conference play. Karl Wagner w§s the leading scorer with 292 points and a high game of 34 points against Pine Eagle. Derek Edwards was second with 196 points followed by Scooter Vogel, Darin Braun and John Barinaga. Karl also led in rebounds and blocked shots followed closely by Darin Braun. Scooter Vogel led the team in assists. Bottom Row. Our football team started out the season great and volleyball did excellent too. The student body as a whole had lots of spirit which means good turnout at games. Fall Homecom- ing was fun. The bonfire, the snake dance, initiation, and pep assemblies. What about the time that the guys dressed up as the cheerleaders and had a pep assembly. As the year progressed and it became time for basketball, the kids got even more charged up. At the games the students were a lot rowdier. Congratulations to the Girls on State. The guys played excellent too!!!! Homecoming was fun,... of course! We seniors had an excellent time getting Christmas trees. We won’t discuss the painting of the C, though. The Mixed Band Con- cert was held at oUr, ahem, hum- ble school. Mr. Peters found a way to get rid of the seniors the day they practiced and the day of the concert. All in all 87-88 was an excellent school year. The Class of 88 would like to wish all of the underclassmen good luck in their years to come. Make high school the best it can be.
