As time goes on, we will realize and appreciate even more, the sacrifices, the kind thoughts, and understanding you have always had for us. We hope as we go out into this uncertain world of speed and tensions, that we will live up to your highest expectations, as well as those of our devoted teachers. We pray that, with God's help, we will keep strong and healthy, mentally, morally, and physically, and strive to become worthy Americans. In appreciation for the opportunities which have been provided for us in this, our beloved country, we shall endeavor to carry forward the ideals and principles of our American heritage. if 'ir i X W Xxxxg f Q, Q A J 1 all 6 X THE BOARD OF EDUCATION 42. We hope that we, the teachers ofC.C,S,, have given you, the Clas of 1958. enough education so that you are grateful, intelligent, responsible, and resourceful custodians of the American heritage of freedom. However, remember that progress is not automatic. The world grows better because people wish that it would, and then take the right steps to make it better. Don't sit on your hands because you have the majority of the material things in life. Continually make yourself strive for the intrinsic values for self and society. As Bruce Barton, author and Ex-Congressman, New York City, once said, 'What a curious phenomenon it is that you can get men to die for the liberty of the world who will DOI make the little sacrifice that is needed to free themselves from their own individual bondage. CLASS HISTORY In September 1946, the future class of '58 entered Mrs. Carpenter's first grade room filled with anticipation. During the next four years, because the school had burned, we attended school in the Grange and Patrician Halls. The year we passed into sixth grade, we entered the beautiful new school. In junior high we proved ourselves' to the civic minded as well as capable of raising money for ourselves. We sold bulbs to raise money for the Community Chest and had a sign erected by the state on Beaty's Corner. Our Freshman year was not exactly a financial success, but we gained much experience and put on our first dance The Cottontail Cotillion. We lost Duffy White, our former class president, but gained Brenda Warboys, Joan Peters, and Katherine Young. During our sopho- more year, our big money making project The Talent Show was an unexpected success, along with several food sales, stationery sales, and dances. We gained Bev Dewey, Judy Griebel, and gained and lost Joanne Ambrosio. We then proceeded upward toward our final goal in our junior year. Our activities consisted of selling refreshments at games, Junior-Senior Play, food sales, dances, and the very successful Junior Prom. Our final goal reached, we made the best of our Senior year. We sold refreshments at games, put on the Halloween Carnival, put on a successful record hop with Kerry and Ed as disc jockeys. We continued with our ice cream sales taken over our Junior year. On March 31 we left for our hard worked for and long anticipated Senior trip to Washington. June 23 found us getting ready for the last step of our high school careers - Graduation. Then, diplomas in hand, Awe were ready to start into life and to carry with us forever the memories of our days at Cambridge Central. CO-CHAMPIONS OF WASHINGTON COUNTY 1957 After taking a 3-1 setback at the hands of Fort Ann, the C.C. S. Indians hit the warpath with a 16-1 swamping of Hartford, followed by successive wins over Salem, Argyle, Hoosic Valley, and Greenwich. Leaving the league scene with an enviable 5-1 record, and the Co-Championship Trophy, wasn't enough for the rampaging Indians. of Coach Carson Fuller. The Class D playoffs found the Indians again defeating Salem and Greenwich for the Class D Trophy. As our yearbook must go to press before the 1958 baseball season officially opens, we won'r be able to report the baseball story. Judging from past experience, and being fortunate enough to have power- ful fielders and hitters, we feel certain that an enviable record will be compiled.
