We were no longer ordinary teenagersg we wt ic high hool students. young adults, we liked to think. As we entered the halls which we would trod for the next four -years, most of us :re seared stiff. others just knew how to hide it. We established ourselves as freshmen by going down the up steps, taking ten minutes to get from class to class, and never quite tding that swimming pool. The first major decision we had to make was the election of our class officers and student council embers. Easter time brought with it our first major project - selling Easter eggs. lt was then we realized what hard work and salesman- ip meant. This sale proved to be the first of many successes for the Class of 1972. The upperelassmen acknowledged us as members of the C.C1H.S. student body' by giving us one place on the May court. Yes, we 're finally on our wayg one year behind us, three more to go. The sophomore year brought to us the meaning of the word test.', N.E.D.T.'s and the Kuder Placement test were given. Most us found ourselves destined to be social working garbage men. We oeeupied our time with our clubs, sports, and the magazine sale. Two new organizations found their way into our lives - e Forensic League and the Wrestling team. We said good-bye to our roles as underclassmen by ordering our class rings. That -ar we decided to start a new tradition by designing a completely new ring. The junior year was full of surprises. Our class rings came in October, making it known we were now upperclassmen. We fur- er established this fact by selecting our class flower, class motto, and class colors. The class play, The Perfect Idiot, was one of e best yet. Springtime brought with it P.S.A.T.'s, College Boards, and the Prom. The Prom's theme was Alice in Wondcrlandv the only word to describe it was fantastic.,' When September brought our senior year. there were visible changes in the Class of 1972. Over our short summer vacation we td grown as adults. The first move for Central Cambria's new seniors was to select and apply to colleges, and to wait and pray to ' aeeepled. C.C.H.S. welcomed its first Homecoming in October, 1971. This was followed by the successful senior class play, Off the rack. Mid-semester brought with it a lot of hustle. We were measured for caps and gowns. The juniors began preparation for the rom and gave us one of the best ever. Baccalaureate was next and finally the big day came - Graduation. At last we were young lults ready to faee the outside world. The early days of September 1968 truly started the beginnings of a new world for us - The Class of 1972. One could rightfully ty, You've come a long way. baby, and believe us we have a lot further to go. - Mary Ann Kokus 9
