Beginning his biology teaching duties at Ebensburg- Cambria in 1948, Mr. Michael Pipas, a veteran ofthe Second World War, had an impressive education behind him. After graduating from Hastings High School, he received a bachelor's degree from St. Francis College, and following extensive study at Clarion State Teachers' College, Indiana State Teachers' College, the University of Colorado, and Goddard University of Vermont, he earned his master of edu- cation degree from Goddard. Besides his teaching duties, Mr. Pipas also helped at the physical end of the iob by serving as junior varsity basketball coach for many years. Mr. Pipas brought alive the world of plants, animals, and insects with his many specimens and examples. What CCHS alumnus of the last twenty-two years could ever forget being guided through the frog dissection under Mr. Pipas's patient guidance? His biology instruction was one of the highlights of our sophomore curriculum. We, the class of T970 of Central Cam- bria High School, dedicate this Oracle to Mr Michael Pipas - friend, teacher, and class sponsor. MR. PIPAS Our Class, the class of 1970, had the good fortune of having Mr. Pipas serve as one of our sponsors. He helped to unite us as freshmen and prepare us to become active members of Central Cambria. Our sophomore year he served as head sponsor. During this year, our magazine sale was very successful thanks to Mr. Pipas's gentle prodding. He was there when the sale was over to proudly hand out the stuffed dogs to all deserving salesmen. Our Prom could never have been the spectacular success it was without the help and dedication of Mr. Pipas and our other sponsors. That night, our night, he was there to share in our eve- ning of dancing. As graduating members of our class, one memory that cannot be erased from our minds is that of Mr. Pipas's friendly smile, his cheerful gait down the hall, and his hearty Good morn- ing. We wish him continued success in all he endeavors. '
