He was Gudmundur Magnus- son, a seventeen-year-old native of Iceland. Mundi came to us from Reykjavik, where he lives with his parents and two brothers, one of whom is his twin. His favorite sports are soccer and basket- ball. When asked to comment about his stay in the United States, Mundi replied, I am grateful to the people of this community for making it possible for me to spend this exciting year in the U.S.A. The country is very beautiful and the people are very friendly. Mundi's outgoing personality and cheerful dis- position have won him many friends at C.C.H.S. Proud and indig- nant we flashed our rings to prove our seniority. Having acquired immeasurable knowledge, we felt ready to decide upon class colors and motto. Our peanut sale and our class play, Washington Never Slept Here, were added to our long list of successful endeavors. Under the able instruction of Mrs. Fluke and Mr. DeRubis, our college board classes proved helpful in preparing us for not only the S.A.T.'s but also the N.M.S.Q.T.,s. April Fool's Day appropriately provided the frolicking, festive when the captain ot the cheerleaders screamed 'LBATTLE CliY,'l Acting ability, also one of our many tal- ents, was visible in the senior class play, MSO This is Blissfi Finally-Senior Banquet, Baccalaureate, Commencement! Conflicting excitement pre- vailecl. As the organ piped the traditional strains of 'iljonip and Circumstancef' we reverenlly approached the stage. As we re- ceived our diplomas, our high school days bc-:ame mere mcmoriesg while the firm handshake became our first step into the future. Last, but by no means least, we agree that our all-night party will abide with us our fondest dreamsf' Footsteps in the sands of time reveal that the Class of Nineteen Hundred and Sixty- atmosphere for our long-awaited and laboriously designed Junior Prom. The gymnasium was magically transformed into Jackson Square, New Orleans, the cafeteria took on the appearance' of Al Hirt's famous All Saints' Night Club, complete with' French food and wine flasks. The bandstand, housing the fabulous Con- tinentals, gave the appearance of a traditional French balcony encompassed by wrought iron railing. As the gala, nine foot papier mache dragon looked on, the Mardi Gras was climaxed by a sudden shower of balloons, serpentine, and confetti falling from their concealed annexes in the ceiling. The costumed waiters and waitresses, the record number of attending couples, and the many engrossed on-lookers all agreed that this was by far the most outstanding event sponsored by the school. As May approached, .our class ushered in the concept of campaigned elections for class officers. While speeches included every type of character reference from staunch supporter of pre-revolutionary democracy to 4th grade Brownie troop treasurer, on the whole, they made deep impressions on our minds. May shone brightly through the sparcely scattered snow as 12 beauties assembled'for the May Day program. The junior class contributed three of their charmers to the court-Deborah Stormer, Lynn Sowolla, and Diane McFadden. As June approached all awaited the arrival of summer vacation followed by our final year at C.C. Thus the Class of '68 ended its year in anticipation. V eight had not only enlightened themselves but also left deep impressions on their successors. I ' Fi 5 . 'X T ' iv f , . 37.2 ,JL W A L. : xxx!! 1 5,53 .La 2 ,ig . The Freshman Class Numbering 278, the Class of 1971 completed the last fourth of the C.C.H.S. student body. They par- ticipated in all school activities and adjusted to the hustle and bustle of high school. Electing class officers to guide them through the yearnwas first on their agenda. With spring came the annual fresh fund- raising drive. Easter eggs sold like hot cakes, and the money rolled in, only to be stashed away until next year's sophomores could add it to their treas- ury. 70 FSA? l ll k-J QI' fl A fb i, O, A 'IJ L Nr if i J V I Q o L 1.7 'Q' L v f f 3' i 'J u ' BT'-:N 4: T if i i -YF! . . Rummel xv lf-f James O'Donnel1 DRUM MAJOR Football games and local parades took on a more festive air with the colorful perfomances of the Central Cambria Band, Color Guard, and Maj orette Squad. Led by Drum Major ,lim O'Donnell, the band enchanted onlookers with unique musi- cal renclitions and carefully-executed ma- neuvers. The band's performances were ac- cented by the military-like drills of Color Guard Sergeant Cheryl Stunkard's squad of banner-and gun-hearers. The Majorette Squad completed the pic- ture of the C.C.H.S. marching unit. With Kandi Adams as captain, the girls charmed their audiences with gilt-edged routines. A pinnacle of the Majorettes' year was the Fifth Annual Majorette Contest at Johns- town. It is with great pride that we salute these three active organizations which so nobly display our school colors. l28 K X Q -1.
