I bid farewell to the members of the graduating class of 1953-one hundred fifty young men and young women who have spent the last four years with us in preparation for their life work. It has been a real pleasure to work with you, counsel with you, guide and lead you through all problems which were paramount in your lives at the time but now may be ignored as trivial. NVhen I begin to reminisce and think of you as freshman, I marvel at the prog- ress which you have made in your advancement from freshman to alumni. As freshman, you were mere boys and girls who had com- pleted the first milestone in your education and were on the thresh- old of your second great adventure. You have admirably conquered these problems and are being ad- vanced to the next step. For some it will mean further education and for others it means your debut into the economic world and society. There is an unhappy thought that accompanies the commencement season. We will no longer be able to meet you, greet you, and depend upon you as a group to help in upholding the fine standards which the various classes have established. However, it is my sincere hope that you may find the place in society that has been reserved for you and that your community and the world at large may be better because of your contribution. 010' Princynal Mr. Johnston, as the supervis- ing principal of Ebensburg- Cambria, annually welcomes the freshman to our school. His duties extend to guide these new students along with the old to uphold the ideals and the tradi- tions for the molding and con- tinuance of good citizenship. He offers his counsels in a friendly manner and students soon learn the value of his ac- tions and decisions, for they are performed for the benefit of all. He has succeeded in main- taining the high standards of de- mocracy in our social organiza- tion. 1 w 1 3
