September-Back to school, we trooped- two hundred strong-this time as sophisti- cated sophomores ready to endure the rigors of plane geometry and Caesar. We were greeted by our class adviser, Mrs. Davis, and our second year at ECHS started with a bang! October-Our banner with its inspiring motto, Seeking Higher Things, was proudly displayed. Congratulations, Ruthanna! We cer- tainly appreciale your effort in planning the design. This months attraction was the skate. Imagine! Two hundred people attended! No wonder Bettie Hardin found her feet in front of her instead of under her. November-Well! That certainly was a load off our minds when the responsibility for run- ning the class was handed over to our newly elected officers--President Zane Bolinger, and his capable assistants, Rena Sisti, Carolyn Gri- fith, Rosemary Bloom, Pauline Gatto, and lack Kinkead. December-And just listen to this! lack Emptield, Irvin Foust and Iack Kinkead dis- played such brilliant tactics on the football field that they earned their letters this season. Another laurel for the Class of '45! Ianuary-Flash! ..... Biggest surprise of the year! The Sophomore Girls' Trio finally learned a new song, and the everlasting Rio Rita was permanently discontinued. I Ill INII I ILUR . . . Anna Thomas and Margaret Katona exhibited skill in art by making a beautiful Valentine box for the Home Economics Department. . . . . . Sophomore Latin students presented a portion of Shakespeare's Iulius Caesar. Tom Brutus Englehart and Mark Antony Myers made noble-looking Romans, but the weep- ing sophomores threatened to flood them off the stage. March-Sophomores in the limelight again! Pat Dunegan, Dale Guynn, and Frances Whar- ton in the English Program proved what might happen to slang-users. And we hardly recog- nized Doris Rice with her southern accent and black face! April-Ah Spring! And with it came that same old feeling. Nadine and Kiff seemed to be hampered by the presence of a rose- scented cloud hovering over them. Of course in the spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love. The Sophomore Party blotted out everything unpleasant this month. Despite rationing the food was super- abundant and super-delicious. The rare Tib- bott and Taylor Piano Team also contributed toward making the party a howling success! May-At last! Another year gone, and as we step from the ranks of the silly sophs to the exulted state of upper-classmen, we look triumphantly back on our happy sophomore yea.: The boys from our class who entered the armed forceslare: Bronson Bradley, Richard Brown, lack Bumford, Iames L. Edwards, Rob- crt lllig, and Richard Leary. . ,. .HH

September-Hi, gang! Gee ii's good to be back, isn't it? Say, aren't those freshmen a scream trying to find their way around? Sure- ly we weren't that green! I guess we upper- classmen will have to help them get ac- quainted. Yes, you can call us upperclassmen now, for we're the new Iunior Class. October-First and foremost are our officers -Nick Datsko was born to be the president of the Class of '45. Iohn Evanchick, our vice president, is always on his toes and gets his opinion in on every question. Vera Public is our very efficient secretary and Morrison Roberts, our treasurer, takes care of our large bank account. November-This being a football month, right now is a good time to give laurels to our junior lettermen, Bill Barber, Nick Datsko. Andy Kepich, Albert McCoy, and George Swalchick. Nice going, boys! Ah, next comes Thanksgiving vacation-short, as usual, but loads of fun. December-The junior Flamingo repre- sentatives, Bill Iones and Iean Griffith, are doing a whopping business selling those membership cards. Let's see now . . . two . . . three . . . four . . . five more months till school is out. Already the halls ring with this eternal phrase. Last, but not least,-comes the long and glorious Christmas vacation, lanuaty-Back to work with a vengeance. Those marks are going to come up or else. February-We're very glad to see Nick Datsko back after his long illness, and happy too because Nick, lean Anderson, Verna Wiz- niak, Paul Kane, Vera Public, and Barbara Thompson were elected to National Honor Society. March-Oh, agony! After a few weeks of anxious waiting we have our parts for the class play, Ask Me Another, the smash-hit of ECHS. Every evening of practice is chuck full of fun and laughs. April--Here it is . . . what we've all been waiting for, the Iunior-Senior Prom! Oh joy and gladness! Maybe all this excitement will wake up Eddie. It seems he can't stay awake in class-will you tell us. why, Eddie?
