Grrls Sports The 1955 56 basketball season looked very prom1s1ng at the beg1nn1ng of the year w1th S1X letter w1nners re turmng We were very happy to have Mr M1ller as our coach agaln th1S year We had two chape rons who were wonderful morale bullders They were Mrs Raymond Mlller and M1ss S1ncla1r Another person who d1d a lot of work for us was Sharon Tuttle, our manager We are ve ry proud of our record of e1ghteen w1n5 and s1x losses, espec1ally s1nce th1s was the f1rst year of h1gh school basketball for seven of our members 1300 po1nts were scored by the forwards th1s year w1th an aver age of 54 po1nts per game Our opponents we re held by our defense to 1094 po1nts w1th an average of 45 polnts per game We played Sewal the f1rst game 1n the County Tourna ment and won Then we played Seymour and lost L1neV1lle was our opponent for the consolatlon game and we won We were all proud to carry home the thlrd place trophy of the County Tournament The Glrls' S6Ct101'1al opened w1th Cambr1a playlng Allerton It was a very close game and ended 1n a t1e Cambrla won by two po1nts 1n an ove rt1me Corydon was our next game All of us played hard but we were Cambr1a came out v1ctor1ous and brought home the th1rd place trophy 1n the Sectlonal Boys Sports At the beg1nn.1ng of the year there were seven letter men back from last year They were Loren Spoon D1ck Holmes, Rae Newell Rex Mead, Gary Sheets, Glen Goben and Rex Perk1ns We also had some new squad member who were Wendell Terrell John Tllton, and Don Burnham Our managers were Romue Tuttle and Floyd Glbbs They d1d a very good Job ln the regular season we won eleven games and lost ten Our total po1nts scored th1s year were 932 wh1le the opponents were held to 896 Although we we re el1m1nated early 1n the Co rnty Tournament we were able to advance to the semlflnals 1n the Sect1onal Tournament Humeston knocked us out by the narrow marg1n of four po1nts We owe much to our coach, Mr Mlller who g1ve us many 1deas and po1nte rs Also, we w1sh to thank Dwlght Brown and Edd1e Relph who kept the tlme and the score We hope the team next year has as much fun and en Joyment as we have We also w1sh them lots of luck 1n the '56 '57 season OPPONENTS LeRoy Weldon Russell De rby Allerton Sewal Garden Grove L1nev1lle Weldon Humeston Alle rton LeRoy L1nev1lle Humeston Garden Grove De rby Sewal Se wal C Seymour QC T J L1n6V1llC qc T Allerton qs T Corydon qs T Seymour qs T Q Russell OPPONENTS LeRoy Weldon Russell Derby Allerton Sewal Garden Grove L1nev1lle Weldon Humeston Allerton LeRoy L1nev1lle Humeston Garden Grove Derby Sewal Sewal qc T Russell Allerton qs T Humeston S T THEY THEY ' 9 - -5 - 1 1 . .
