Boys |oe Lubert Show Gritty Competitiveness Skinned knees from diving for loose balls, quickness, constant hustle, and the three point shot were the hallmarks of this year’s boys basketball team. The team’s style of play constantly entertained their fans. Young, only Brian Kelly and Greg Abel are seniors, the team matured and improved throughout the season. First year head coach George Haluska noted that the team had eight starters giving good depth. With six starters — Greg Huber, Dave Miller, Scott Rudolph, Chris Lamb, Harry Vargo, and Randy Bills — returning next year, the future looks bright. Coach Haluska was pleased with the development of the team, for its success exceeded what many had expected from an inexperienced team lacking height. In fact, the boys lost seven games by four points or less, proving they could play with the best teams in the area. The team’s gritty competitiveness is a tribute to the great basketball tradition at Cambria Heights. What the players will most remember is: Richland game — 4 out of 32, Poor Defense!”, Ligonier’s hairstyle, Friday nights after the game at G.A.’s house, and C.L.’s imitations. Bottom Row: )im Stevens, Dan Pompa. Jim Serafin, Pat Farabaugh. Middle Row: Paul Lauer, Chris Strittmatter. Ralph Van Ormer, Mike Kindel. Pauli Dubyak. Top Row: Coach — Mr. William Schoten- carrier. Harry Vargo. Bartholomew Kilraine. |im Kutruff.
