Head Coach Harry Murphy. At the start of the 87-88 wrestling season the outlook seemed futile. With only six returning lettermen and four freshmen on the Varsity Squad, there were only dreams of it becoming a winning season. But all the long practices, dedication, and caring paid off. as the CH grapplers ended their season with a 10-7-1 record. The Heightster's JV also had an outstanding season with a record of 15-2-1. The success of this team is due both to the coaching of Harry Murphy and Rick Bishop and to the combined leadership of the tri- captains. Dan Little. Jim McNulty and Darin Thomas. These seniors lea the team to victory but also showed each member of the squad friendship and loyalty, which are keys to winning. Coach Murphy commented. “This year’s wrestling team was a pleasant surprise. With only three seniors returning, a handful of Darin Thomas Jim McNulty 18 lettermen. and a tough eighteen dual meet schedule we were hoping to just be competitive, but instead we had a winning season with some very exciting matches. Our seniors Darin Thomas. Dan Little and Jim McNulty gave us the leadership we needed and our underclassmen followed their example by performing extremely well all season. I can truly say this has been one of my most enjoyable seasons as a wrestling coach.’ The wrestlers also had help and assistance from 10 dedicated matmaids. The matmaids for the 87-88 season are Anita Cronauer. Jenny Greiner. Michelle Ashurst, Shannon Link. Anita Kline. Donna Maslonick, Sandy Hoover. Melissa Lieb. Ixiri Buck and Missy Hey. They spent many long hours painting signs, cleaning mats and cheering the guys on to victory. The CH wrestlers had many fun and unforgettable moments. Some of these are: Scott dribbling down the hall at UPJ, Tank’s opponent at Central-Martinsburg. rubber rome stench. Smitty’s fire engine red ears before weighins. checking oil. and Craig’s bulging pants after weight loss. Dan Little Rob Weiland
