M K.U.. -• cS- «» After last year’s impressive performance, everyone thought that the 1987-88 girls' volleyball team would be a flop. But during the pre-season the girls worked hard and brought together a surprisingly strong team. Although C.H. was one of the shortest teams in the area, they also had one of the quickest. This quickness, and a will to succeed, enabled the girls to capture another undefeated season, the district VI title and also a 7th consecutive trip to states. At states the team equalled last year’s success, finishing third. Led by captain Lu Cunningham, the girls racked up an impressive record of 17-1. with their only loss coming at the hands of Richland in the Central Western Conference Championship. First year coach Barry Fox noted that he ‘‘really enjoyed working with the girls and hosting the first annual Cam- bria Heights volleyball tournament. The continuing success of the girls volleyball team proves that it is one of the greatest sports programs in Penn- sylvania. What the seniors on the volleyball team will always remember are the final games together at states, and the tears shed when it was over. Other fond memories were: Clams Marinare, Jill and Tammi’s film fest, Lu’s ac- robatics with the net, our meeting with Bon Jovi, and Bogie’s only burst of emotion!! 11
