Foreword As the summer months turned swiftly into fall, we found ourselves seniors, doing all the wonderful things that seniors do. First there was the delightful confusion of the first weeks of school when we were once more renewing friendships starting school activities, and returning to the old routine of school life; but school life proved to be anything but routine. There were those long hours of practicing in the hot sun to prepare for football season that w'ere so easily forgotten on the crisp Friday evenings when everyone turned out to cheer our school on. The Senior Play followed shortly after, and the Hillbilly Jet Set dominated school interest. Before we knew' it basketball and wrestling were ‘‘in”, and the year was half over. A seriousness came over the seniors as they selected name cards and invitations, ordered caps and gowns, and made their plans for the future. Quickly, however, the Mardi Gras was upon us; and we were in our last exciting months. The school was bustling with preparations for the spring concerts, the Junior-Senior Prom, the Senior Banquet, and the last sport our boys were to participate in—track. Finally the last time we would all be together had arrived. “Graduation” These are the memories that we have tried to capture for you in this, the 1967 HIGHLANDER. May you leaf through it thoughtfully as you once more relive the happiness in its pages.

Words seem a meager way to express the grat- itude we feel for a woman who has devoted her entire life to us and who has given us understanding hours of helpful guidance. Therefore, the 1967 grad- uates of Cambria Heights High School proudly dedicate the HIGHLANDER to Mrs. Marion H. Schwab. After these years of teaching, Mrs. Schwab is retiring. She is truly a great person, for she has patiently worked with her students in an effort to let them realize the value and importance of Eng- lish and literature. We hope that her countless hours of instructing, explaining, and correcting will be repaid in the knowledge that her efforts have not been futile, that they are deeply appreciated, and that because of her we are prepared to face the world of our future. May she one day be as proud of us as we are of her now. Dedication
