He had been our guidance counselor since the first year of the jointure, but he was more than just that. He was a friend to all. Every student knew that if he had a problem of some sort, “Mr. K.' would be willing to do all he could. He knew each student individually, and he understood our special needs. He encouraged students to take an active part in school affairs, as he was the back- bone of many of our extra-curricular activities. Not only did he sponsor such activities as marching band, chorus, Senior Day, and student council; but he initiated and built up the Kilties and the radio club. The many trips to his office for help, guidance, and reassurance will remain an outstanding memory of the seniors of their days at Cambria Heights. Mr. Karolchick will never be forgotten. 13
