Barbara Lamb Tom Richardson A M ssage T The Students Education is known to affect the appetite, eyes, and muscle tone. lt is essentially lonely and essentially un- comfortable, and it is the twentieth century's best bet. Against the glut of materialism, against hipsters and herd- sters who would cheerfully clutter us with commodities, commercialize our taste, and dictate our creeds, the honest homeliness of education takes on a new attractiveness. But education is not enough. We must have commitment as well, and the mid-l960's offer splendid eX0rfIPleS of the combination. Young people are involved in voter registration projects, in the Peace Corps, and in demonstra- tions and debates which determine main policy decisions in their schools and in their nations. Even in entertain- ment, the personal and traditional appeals of folk music are making strong inroads upon commercial music manufac- tured mechanically for an unthinking and orgiastic audience, and young people are responsible for the change. Taken together, education and commitment will bring discomfort, for there will always be more questions than time for answers, and more proiects than time for service. A conscientious person must be bothered by both diffi- culties. Even so the combination of education and commitment will endow our existence with meaning, purpose, and humility. We could do worse. Throughout our life we will always recall our words of spirit, Hail to thee our alma mater. To get the ball rolling, we selected Terry Arvidson, President, Dan DeBoever, Vice-President, Patty Noble, Secretary-Treasurer, and Roberto Ditri, Sergeant-at-Arms, to lead us through a very successful year. Our year would not have been a success had it not been for the efforts of Mr. Purdy, Mr. Ronhaar, and Mr. Bamett, our class advisors. Four seniors presided over the student body in A.S.B. offices. Serving as President was Vaughn Lein, as Vice-President, Ken Bethune, as Secretary, Mary Meyer, and as Sergeant-at-Arms was Jon Cross. The seniors welcomed two froeign exchange students to our class. Berit Svendsen from Norway and Roberto Ditri from ltaly. f Under the direction of Coach Gard, the football team was led to victory through the efforts of several mighty seniors. The outstanding players included George Killian, Gary Ostenson, Gary Willms, and Vaughn Lein. During basketball season, Camas again showed its strength on the court. Cheering the team to victory were our enthusiastic pep squad - yell leader, Janice Lyles, song queens, Sue Fleisch- man, Susan Page, and Patty Noble, and Pep Queen Sherry Barnes. Barbara Lamb and Ken Moszeter directed the planning and decoration of the Senior Ball. On the evening of November 2l, the guests entered into a scene of Bewitched. Reigning over this event were Queen Nancy Eckman and King Dick Golladay, princesses Jayne Gould and Berit Svendsen, and Princes George Killian and Ken Bethune. The Class of 1965 graduated on May 28 with the class motto, A man without knowledge, a world without light. Speaking at graduation were Eleanor Frost and Mary Meyer, co-valedictorians, Susan Ginder, salutatorian, and Vaughn Lein, class speaker. 66 MIKE ADAIR Boys' Fed. 2,3,45 Library Club 25 White Shirts 2,45 Football 25 Track 2.
