We get to class on time-usually: we get assign- ments for tomorrow. next week, and sometimes for- ever: we get to the coffee shops as often as we can: we get involved in long. smoky discussionsg we get dates and we sometimes get out of assignmentsg often we get discouraged and occasionally we get into troubleg we get tested, graded, disciplined and en- couraged: we get new insight into faith and facts: and with all our getting we get understanding.

Perhaps we were not all committed, but without a doubt we were all involved. Not only were the rigors and responsibilities of Christian scholarship within the disciplines of an academic community imposed upon Calvin students. not only were we forced to take time out from our pursuit of excellence to deal with the problems of tuition. board, room. new books. and meal tickets, but this year in a new way we were brought face to face with financial reality. Even as we were encouraged to share, we were discouraged to see the cares increase.
